We have made reservations for the Ramada Maingate/
Disneyland for July 6-10...yes, I know it will be HOT and we'll just have to make the best of it! Planning on getting to the park early and taking a break in the afternoon for some pool and rest time before going back in the evenings.
Can I get some feedback on this hotel? I'm such a worrier about spending $$ on a bad choice
We just got back from our Disneyland trip and stayed at Ramada MATP. This is the 4th time we've stayed there over the last 12 months. I was reluctant to stay there the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times because housekeeping has always been short staffed and the rooms show it (even the new rooms), but we were pleasantly surprised this trip with our very clean room and carpet, and full daily service. (On other trips, the housekeepers pretty much smoothed the covers, emptied the trash, and took away the dirty towels without restocking them.)
The pool is really cute; we used it once when my kids were around 7 and 9 and they thought it was great -- they said it was just as fun as the HoJo pool.
The breakfast is the same as at Park Vue, BWPPI, and BW Anaheim Inn except for that they don't offer meat (if you call what Park Vue offers meat!) or hot "eggs", or waffles.
The healthy items they offer at Ramada MATP: hardboiled eggs, fruit (bananas, apples, oranges -- 2 choices each day), coffee, tea, and cold water.
The other options include: donuts, oatmeal, toast, bagels, 3 cereal choices (Froot Loops, Corn Flakes, Cheerios, and Frosted Flakes were among the choices last week) and milk, and sometimes the staff makes biscuits and gravy that's not half bad. The orange juice is orange juice concentrate, but the apple "juice" is not juice -- the label states that it is an apple juice "product" and has artificial ingredients. Gross. Not that it's healthy anyway, but is it really that much more expensive to use real apple juice?
You'll save $20-$40 per night over BWPPI, which I also like a lot. Do try to get a queen room though; the doubles are cramped.
Also, make sure you're getting the best special (AP rate, gas special, etc.), and keep checking rooms up until the day you'd have to cancel your first reservation -- I've scored rooms for under $100 that way; rebook and cancel the first reservation.
