Ramada Maingate At the Park Questions

We only stayed at Ramada Maingate once a few years ago; hopefully those with recent experience can help to answer my questions:

Is the new building farther away in walking distance [to DL pedestrian entrance] than the older rooms?

Are the old rooms in great shape, or is most of the housekeeping/maintenance effort being put into the new building (i.e. are the new rooms worth the $17 or so upgrade?)

If you booked with AP rate, were you able to get your upgrade benefit? If so, what was your upgrade?

If you booked with a different code than AP, will they also offer room upgrade to APs at check in?

Are 2 Double Standard rooms any worse/smaller than 2 Queen Deluxe rooms (besides the bed size difference!)?

Thanks!

Yes, the new rooms are further away. The hotel is "U" shaped and the new building is at the bottom of the "U", furthest away from the street.

I've found the old rooms always very clean. But they show their age for sure. For only $17 more I would totally get the new room! It's new (only a year old)!

I booked with an AP for our trip starting this Sunday 7/20. I got a discounted price on the 3 bedroom suite, plus early check in at 1PM and late checkout at 2PM plus I think a discount at the little store they have on site.

On their website, says the deluxe rooms are 300 sq ft and standard rooms are 225 sq ft.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the info! I guess they couldn't upgrade your room since you were already in the biggest one! :cool1:

Sure! LOL. Yeah, my parents are joining us this trip, that's why we are going with the suite. The 3 room suite at Ramada was $900 cheaper than 2 standard rooms at the PPH

I'll try to remember to take photos of the room and report back when we get home!

So we are back from our trip. The room was perfect! 4th floor, away from the elevator, but not too far. It was much quieter on the highest floor. Had an awesome view of TOT, Mickey's fun wheel and the tops of Cadillac Range. Great view of fireworks too. The room was really spacious. Even just the bedroom part. Nice, new fluffy towels. No hair on towels or beds or tub-which is a major pet peeve of mine. Rooms were really clean and furniture was still in great shape. Our fridge had a little freezer, the one in my parents room did not. Having a freezer was great to freeze water bottles and our ice packs.

The parlor area was really spacious. The photos online make it hard to tell how large the room is. There was plenty of room for all 6 of us. We used the dining table quite a bit. The only time we heard any noise from others was through the vents in the parlor room and occasionally in the bathroom. Otherwise no noise through the walls from anyone next to us. An occasional door slamming, but nothing terrible. I would stay away from the elevator though as the "ding" when the doors were going to open was quite loud!

Parking when we got there on Sunday was plentiful. We found 2 great spots. Never had to move. I could see later in the week, that parking was tighter. Never heard construction. The remodel will look great when completed.

The pool was awesome!! My kids loved it and so did I! It was heated, has the beach entry, which my 4 year old loved! And both boys loved the water sprayers. We had a blast! Towels were provided and tons of lounge chairs too. Spa looked large, but never tried it out.

Breakfast was minimal, but got us going in the morning. We usually ate an earlier lunch anyway. I only went down once to grab food and it was busy, but the line was moving faster then I anticipated and they were re-stocking the food pretty quickly too. My parents grabbed a doughnut and banana every morning and were happy.

We had excellent customer service at check in and check out (Samantha was awesome!). We also had a situation where we needed to print and sign some documents and the front desk let us use their computer to print-which I felt was above and beyond great! We were dreading having to find and drive to a kinkos/fedex, so that saved us a ton of time! Thank you Ruben!

I also recommend getting take out from Tony Roma's one night. We went in and asked for a take out menu. Then went back to our room and placed an order. Food was ready in 20 minutes and was piping hot! Jesus, who took our order was so sweet and gave us everything we might need for our meals including forks, knifes, spoons, napkins, wet naps, extra condiments and even threw in some bread and butter. We had an excellent meal!

We also visited the little convenience store on site. It was in a construction trailer along with the lobby and the ticket/tour place. The man who runs the convenience store was so nice and gave us a discount on our items when he saw my room key. It's a really nice store with tons of items.

The walk to the parks was easy and quick. My parents were happy they could go take a break if they wanted. At the end of the night, it felt like a quick walk home and my DS6 easily walked the whole day at DL and walked back to the hotel without issue. (first time without a stroller for him)

I couldn't have been happier with our stay and plan on staying again in Oct and/or December for sure!

Let me know if you have any questions :goodvibes

We will be at this hotel for the DL half weekend in a few weeks. Can you tell me what the parking charge was? Trying to decide if I should rent a car or not.

Parking is FREE! So is wi-fi and breakfast :thumbsup2
Really? Awesome! I thought I had read somewhere about a parking charge so I'm glad to hear this. Looks like renting will be my cheapest/easiest option then. I almost asked about wi-fi too- thanks for reading my mind and including that info too :) Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Yep! Free :)

Don't expect a lot of choices for breakfast. But they were really good about restocking all the items :)
