I had a customer tell me about how his wife always goes to ralph's grocery to buy wine because they have a deal where if you buy 6 or more bottles you get 40% off your wine purchase. Is this true?

Deep discounts on wine are very common in grocery stores here in California. Some require 6 bottles, some require a case purchase (12 bottles)

No government run liquor stores here. I haven't been to Canada in 5 years, but I about fainted when I had to pay $38 for a 5 liter box of wine that retails for $12 here, and can go as low as $8 on sale.

In fairness, I about fainted at the prices of Niagara Peninsula wines in Florida. You pay less when it's local, and more when it's being shipped across the border and thousands of miles. However our taxes on wine and spirits are very very high compared to some places.
