Ralph Brennan's

My BFF and I always go to Ralph Brennan's when we can, but we were so disappointed with the temporary menu last December that we are opting for something else when we're there this weekend. If the full menu were available, we would absolutely go there, but there really isn't anything on the limited menu to recommend it.
The early part of December, they had just reopened with a limited menu, and then closed again.

Here is the current menu... Look at the lunch and dinner (as they may be different.

Is that true for all of the beignets, or just the specialty ones? We have dinner reservations at RB's the first week of May (our first day back to DL), and I really want to get the bananas foster glazed beignets.

No idea. It was my first time eating there. I went there because I saw the sign for the snickerdoodle beignets and assumed (my bad) they would be sold there as well. We wanted to sit down and eat and thought we'd give it a try. The food was very underwhelming and then to find out I couldn't get the beignets I stopped there for was very disappointing.

Since this topic is just generic "Ralph Brennan's" I wanted to add another perspective. This is no judgment on those who feel its just "meh". But I want to say that we have been there a half dozen times and enjoyed it every time. But the last time was in December with the limited menu and it was just OK. I personally really liked it when we had the full menu, and looking forward to it again.

The drinks were good for my taste (liked the Mint Julep). Bananas Foster prepared at the table is a treat. So, when they are back in full operation I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Totally agree. We go every trip for the most part and love it. We plan on going in October and while we'll still go with the limited menu I know I'm going to be disappointed because my favorite meal isn't on the menu and nothing on the limited menu looks fabulous to me.

This is me as well, although I do see the double chocolate bread pudding and that's worth going for if it's the old kind. I say that because on one of my more recent visits, they'd made it a very different way--we were so disappointed they didn't charge us for it! It was like a square piece of cake with white and dark chocolate squiggles on it., which is NOTHING like what we were expecting (souffle with little dishes of white and dark chocolate ganache you can pour into the souffle). Here is a picture of the original kind. You could get the scoop of vanilla bean ice cream added if you wanted.
