Produced/written by the people who did My name is Earl... funny, my husband said it reminded him of that when we watched it.

Okay...this makes sense now. I just watched it on Hulu. Do you remember the scene where they are watching the news and the reporter is talking about the murderer? You have to really pay attention to catch it, but then he mentions another story.

I don't remember the exact wording, so I googled it and found someone who mentioned it on another forum:

THERE’S a throwaway joke in the pilot episode of Greg Garcia’s new Fox comedy, “Raising Hope,” in which a news anchor on a television screen promises the conclusion to a story about “a small-time crook with a long list of wrongs he was making amends for.” But before that tale can be told, the television conks out — or, more precisely, is conked over someone’s head — and its ending is never revealed.

I thought it very funny and the young man who fathered the baby seems to be a pretty good actor-even when he let great grandma French kiss him

Yes, I have to admit this was funnier than "Running Wilde" from Mitch Hurwitz who created A.D. But I'm gonna hang in there. I will be setting my DVR for Raising Hope. I have NEVER liked Martha Plimpton, but she is pretty good so far.
I'm another one who thought it was genius that the girl requested a McRib and a Shamrock Shake
Maybe the woman scheduled to be executed tonight in Va. should request that! Oh, that was bad, I know. I couldn't resist!

My kids (17 and 15) and I watched while DH was at school. We laughed a lot. We'll keep watching...added it to the DVR just in case. The next show Running Wilde....was horrible and we stopped watching it about 10-12 minutes in.

I liked the pilot and it was better than expected. Martha Plimpton really stood out in the pilot. The scene of her singing to the baby while flashing back to her son as a baby was very cute.
