Raise Your Voice: Guaranteed Booking Categories at SSR

Maybe if the Treehouse Villas are added to SSR they will then add booking categories.

I'm not too familiar with the location of the Treehouse Villas. Are they close enough to possibly be incorporated into SSR?? Does anyone have a map to show the area?

That entire thread has a lot of info on the treehouses. Going back to the late-90s, Saratoga Springs was "The Disney Institute" and the treehouses WERE part of the DI.

Several weeks ago permits were approved to rebuild the treehouses. Making them part of SSR is the most sensible course of action, IMO, but Disney could still keep them for cash guests.

I see that the first post on this was about 8 months ago, with no info on action by DVC.

Is this a dead issue? Has anyone gotten any kind of positive response to any inquiries?

Or are we tilting windmills?

I wouldn't say it is a dead issue. It is one that if there is a ground swell of support/demand, then maybe they will do something.

Hello,

I just posted my feeling about this issue on another thread... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1734766

Enough of the piecemeal emails and letters... They don't seem to be working. Time for a petition!! As they say here in Chicago, "vote early and vote often"!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::thumbsup2:thumbsup2... How could I forget that part?? However, as a conservative, I often feel like a lone wolf in the wilderness here:)

I am with you buddy! We are two lone wolves, lol.

Even though they are very close by it seems like it would be a hike to the Carriage House area. Perhaps they'd do another larger pool? Maybe another counter service restaurant? Was there anything specific mentioned in the permits other than rebuilding the treehouse structures themselves??

Make that three!

LOL... I see misery loves company!! To make matters worse for me, I am a member of a union that really loves their Democratic candidates!:lmao::lmao:

You're a member of a union AND a conservative? Isn't that an oxymoron?

No, nothing on the pools. I doubt they'd redo them and build a big one. Not with the conservation area concerns.

But the hike really depends on which THV your stay in. Closest to the THV entrance, you will be walking .8 miles to Carriage House. Closest to Grandstand you're only talking .4 miles. It'll be even shorter to the Grandstand pool.

It's like walking from the furthest Congress Park building (closest to DTD) to Carriage House at most.

Yeah, that was mentioned in the permits...to the extent that Disney confirmed they are NOT adding any other features. As BroganMc said, they really can't due to the wetlands regulations. It took quite a bit of creative engineering just to get this part of the project approved. In a nutshell, Disney figured out a way to get a LARGER treehouse structure onto a SMALLER piece of land. If there was a way to do the same thing with the pool, perhaps they would consider it. ;)

Transportation will definitely be a challenge here, regardless of whether the treehouses are for DVC members or cash guests. That could end up just be part of the package you sign-on for when commit to using points for the treehouses.

When they were part of the Disney Institute the resort made golf carts available to guests at the treehouses. It could be a little more difficult to do that now since SSR wasn't necessarily designed with guest-operated golf carts in mind.

But we're nearly certain Disney isn't building anymore structures near the treehouses. So unless they are turning the poolhouse into a small registration desk for Treehouse guests, they will almost certainly rely on SSR for that an other amenities. We'll just have to wait and see how this all plays-out.

I just got off the phone with my DVC Guide, who happens to chair a committee on these types of issues, and it appears the efforts are receiving a favorable response within the committee members. She states she is forwarding our requests up the chain. She seemed very optomistic that we would see a Guaranteed Booking Category for SSR owners. Keep your fingers crossed.

Finally a glimmer of hope! Thanks for posting.

A reminder that it is fine to encourage people to express their feelings to Member Services/Member Satisfaction. However, petitions and form letters are not allowed on the DIS.

Thanks.

Maybe we should start sending emails again- maybe if they are on the fence we can push them over.
