Raise your hand if you're expecting severe weather today!

Overnight blizzard here in the Toronto area, started around 7. About an hour ago we had thunder snow! Big flash of lightning and a huge clap of thunder. First time I’ve ever seen that during a snow storm. We are supposed to get around a foot of snow in the space of 12 hours.

I keep hearing about the lightning . That lovely storm then made it out this way, minus the lightning. Ugh ugh , enough snow already !!! I don’t think the storm was as bad as the warnings we had, so probably 10-15cm, high winds, but thankfully we were still able to go out and get our errands done, and upcoming temps look good, melt snow, melt 😄

It’s been raining pretty hard overnight around here. Probably not as severe as in higher altitude parts of California. Highways around Lake Tahoe are closed. Yosemite National Park is closed. This was in Southern California.

Apparently there have been lots of people stuck in the snow and being pulled out by helicopter.

Middle TN, have high winds now, but expecting storms to move through in a couple hours. DH had to take DD back to college, and on the way back, trying to beat the weather. Local schools closed today.
This is the 3 year anniversary of tornadoes hitting Nashville.middle TN.
My brother lives in Middle Tn, and he had a huge tree fall down from about 70 MPH winds. It was in his yard and fell across the road. The local fire department came and cleaned it up. He's lucky that he didn't get worse!

We ended up losing some siding and a couple.of shingles and being without power for a few hours. We were lucky. Tons of people here in KY still don't have power and this happened Fri afternoon/evening.

And gas leaks where the cold temps caused uninsulated gas lines to fail in the San Bernardino Mountains. It's almost never this cold so nobody was ever prepared for it.

I looked up temperature averages in Crestline, California where many are snowed in and there have been several of these fires. Even in January and February, typical low temps are maybe in the low 40s F.
