Rainy weekend

Now they are saying 40-70% chance of rain this weekend. The percentages are going up every day. Should I be worried now?

If it rains it rains, that doesn't mean you can't go to DL. Crowds will be lower, waits will be shorter, go have fun! We did a few visits in the rain, we got wet but we stayed and had a ball. Just take ponchos (or buy them there) and umbrellas, extra socks and shoes and enjoy!

Yep, I actually like DLR better in the rain for the shorter lines. Only bad part is the restaurants with outdoor seating close. :sad1: But usually counter service stays open (last time we ended up with bread bowls instead of Cafe Orleans - yummy and cheaper and we hit Cafe Orleans later in the week). Panchos are good all the time, and there's plenty to do indoors (spend time at the Animation Academy, Muppet 3D, most of Tomorrowland stays open).
Also keep in mind that often "rain" predicted for Anaheim will mean a steady drizzle that might not close the attractions you want to go on.

Don't worry! DL with rain is still DL! Shorter lines, less crowds and you get a perspective of DL that some people will never see! Be excited! We will be there this weekend and I am doing the rain dance ! I can't wait for my son to be in his rain boots! Now off to look for a pair myself! Think of it as almost getting the park all to yourself. I have only been to DL once when it rained. It was during the holidays and boy it was awesome! Enjoy it! :goodvibes

We have prepaid for the Holiday Tour on Sunday (70% chance of rain day). With the rollerskating snowflakes and the number of "furry" characters in the holiday parade, I would guess that they cancel the parade if it's raining? Anyone know if we will be able to get a refund on the Holiday Tour since the biggest part of it is the preferred parade seating?

If it's raining they do cancel the parade, they will do a cavalcade instead, that's where the characters pile in a truck and ride around. They will not give you a refund if the parade is cancelled. I disagree that the biggest part of the tour is the parade seating, we thought the tour was great by itself, they parade seats were a great perk tho!

I'm hoping it rains!!! The parks are always MUCH better when there's rain! :cloud9:

P.S. Disneyland1951, that's a great shot!:thumbsup2

We will be there on Sunday rain or shine! We are there with the National pageant and the girls have to go on that day to get a photo in front of the castle, our entire week is scheduled for us with the pageant so all the pageant girls and family's will still be in DL on Sunday.

It was the biggest perk for us, anyway. LOL

They can refund me in Disney dollars, that's fine. But I know we will not be able to do this if it's raining badly. The only way we are able to do this is by promising the cocoa and gingerbread with front row seat at the parade. If that is out, the tour will not be enjoyable for anyone in our group.....:headache: (the closest smiley I could find to a temper tantrum in progress.....)

Disneymom23,

I will be there from Friday afternoon until Monday night as well and I just saw the weather forecast! I have never been at DL in the rain but when I was at WDW last August it rained everyday! We just thew on our ponchos and kept going! But I am kinda worried this time around because I have never been to a Disney park for the holiday decorations and I don't know how much we will be able to enjoy them now

Hope we both have a great trip!

Jessica

That's too bad. :( If that was the case for us we would have skipped it. We looked at it as a fun holiday tour with front of line access to the best rides and free cocoa and gingerbread cookies (oh we also got to try the holiday fudge, we each had 2 pieces of pumpkin and mint, OMG they were so good!) Like I said we considered the parade seating a perk because we knew that if it rained the parade would have been cancelled. We would have been bummed sure, but that wasn't the make or break it for us. I hope you guys are able to have your parade seating. Oh and just an fyi, it's not guaranteed to be front row, there will be rows of seats available (iirc we had 3 rows) and depending on which tour group you are in you may not be first to get seated. :)

Edited to add, they will not refund you if the parade is cancelled. All tours are 100% non-refundable, if it rains they still do the tour, you just lose the parade seating. They may offer you fastpasses or a front of line pass for another ride of your choice but you will not receive a refund.

If you did WDW in the rain you can do DLR in the rain. Just do the same thing, ponchos on and keep going. :)

I hope you both have a great time!!

Keep in mind it's always worth asking for a refund. When they canceled fantasmic on the last night of our stay one year due to high winds they handed us dessert and a refund for our special viewing tickets though they offered tix for another night first.

Whenever we go while it's raining, there are no lines for Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run. Often times, they'll let you go on the ride again without even having to get out and go through the line again. Riding Splash Mountain over and over again can be especially satisfying if you have a change of clothes waiting for you in a locker or backpack.

Main difference is your F! showing was cancelled, the tour will not be cancelled, it happens rain or shine. The parade may be cancelled but not the tour, that's the catch. They can certainly ask for a refund but it's unlikely they will get it.

I'm anticipating that the tour will go on but the parade will be canceled. I went ahead and switched our tour from tomorrow to Monday. The parade is one of the main reasons we are doing the tour again.
