Finally, my husband and I have planned a trip for 2 to Disney. I love Disney and have been several times, most recently a year ago for my daughter’s 21st birthday. I raised her right ;) He took his daughter about 15 years ago and said he just “didn’t understand the hype”. *roll eyes*

Being the loyal Disney fan that i am, I considered that a challenge and so now we have a great trip planned for next week. But that dang Mother Nature is threatening to bring rain and thunderstorms every day! Please calm my fears. Is the forecast as bad as it seems? I’m obsessed with the accuweather app. Help!!

What days are you going next week? The forecast doesn't look that bad to me. Typical weather for this time of year...

It seems that every time we go that the forecast shows a "rainy week". However, we usually end up having a good week with a few showers here and there. I have gotten to the point where I try not to even look at the forecast anymore so that I won't dwell on it. Best wishes and hope you have clear skies all week for your vacation.

Since you can't control the weather, DONT obsess about it - just deal with it.
DO you want to focus on complaining about what you could have done - or focus on what you CAN do?

instead of ponchos, try rain coats if you think you'll be needing them for longer amounts of time.
Bring multiple pair of shoes in case yesterday's shoes aren't dry.
bring a waterproof backpack - or pack things in large ziplocs inside.

ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!

Maybe rain will keep crowds down.....

If the night time shows are cancelled - go resort/bar hopping....

Thank you all! I think I just needed some reassurance. We leave Saturday and come back Thursday. I know some of our most fun adventures (a snorkeling trip in Costa Rica with sand fleas and heavy rains and wind that we still belly laugh about every time we tell the story) have started with less than optimal conditions. It’ll be fine. Great even.

Okay. I’m going to step back and relax a bit. (I’m also packing those ziplocks and extra shoes). Thanks again!

I live here (about 80 miles west of WDW) and next week actually looks really good. Sunday is our biggest chance for rain and it's currently only at 40%. That's like a scattered shower. We are not in "rainy" season yet so it shouldn't be a big deal. It's very rare to get an all day rainy day in FL and when that happens it's normally in the dead of winter. You should be fine.

As previous posters have noted, Florida rain usually comes in short bursts. Add a couple of ponchos to your park bag just in case you get caught in one. And remember that rain will drive a lot of folks out of the parks which makes it much nicer for those who are willing to stay.
Wishing you a pixiedust: visit!

I am right there with you! We are heading down Saturday and I'm trying to not stress about the forecast. I did look up all the rides that remain open during bad weather. My plan is head for those if bad weather hits. We have all our days planned with ADR's and FP so we will be going to the parks no matter what and still have fun. Even if its raining (not pouring) I'm happy to slap on a poncho and make the best of it. But fingers crossed for both of our sakes, that it ends up being fine. Have a fun trip!! :)

knock on wood the forecast is improving for a good portion of the week. As it is now, local weather have Sunday/Monday as wet days and then should be OK

I think in over 30 years of going to WDW and having a trip in just about every month of the year, I've maybe been on 2 trips where it didn't rain for a little while at least one day of the trip. I've those summer trips where it rains every day, sometimes a short quick light shower, sometimes a gully washer that lasts for a hour, sometime all day and sometimes 2 or 3 showers a day. It's just water and unless you are certain green witch, it won't melt you, wear some good water proof sandals, throw a poncho in your pocket and splash through the puddles. Dance in the rain, ride splash mountain. Think fun and it will be.

I agree! Anywhere tropical is typically going to have rain and thunderstorms predicted every day. I went to St. Lucia twice when my father lived there and each time on the plane down people were bemoaning weather forecasts of storms all week, and it wasn't a problem either time. I think its just how the forecast is as you get further south.

Y’all sure know how to make me feel so much better. Thanks! I’m getting excited again and not stressing about some silly raindrops any more!
