Hi!!:thumbsup2

Having just returned from a few days away - we were unlucky enough to experience Legoland in the torrential rain!!:lmao: - and it got me thinking about Florida in Dec/early Jan.

We know that the weather can be cool, but what is it like when it rains??:confused3

Is it like the rain in the warmer months - ie heavy but then clears quickly or can it be cold and miserable all day long like it is over here!!

We made it round Legoland and had a good day, but I said to Steve (DH) that if it was cold in florida we would have a great time (much easier to do theme parks with children without the heat!!;) ) - but I really didn't like being soaked through all day!!!:lmao:

What has been your experience over the christmas period??:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You get a lot less rain in Dec/Jan. Yes it can be cooler, but I only wore a fleece on one day in the 2 weeks we were out there last Christmas.

It might not be bikini weather every day, but it is lovely and sunny!!
Our lanai got up to around 90 degrees on 4/5 days out of the fortnight!
Its a dry heat, and doesn't feel that hot.

We're off again in December........ I can't wait!!!

Like above much prefer this time of year.Only had one day with rain and it was only a quick burst.Cool at nights but still t-shirt weather. Not oppressive heat either. Its great:cool1: :cool1:

i've visited florida in december and january, and the weather is quite different to the summer months, yet nothing as bad as the uk! lol.

the weather is more varied, it could drizzle all day, or be hot & sunny (tho maybe not as humid)

the thing i really noticed which was different to visiting in summer months, was that it was dark in the mornings and the sun sets earlier in the evenings!! so when we were leaving our resort to go the parks in the mornings, the street lights were still on!

all in all, i have had just as good a time at wdw and in florida during the winter months as the summer-time .. u might just need a couple of jumpers or jeans. btw u can always spot the Brits during floridian winters, as we insist on wearing shorts & flipflops, while the locals will be in coats and gloves! ;)

Christmas Day 2004 - it lashed rain all day long. :sad1:

Boxing Day 2004 - chilly and dull in the morning (we needed jackets) but brightened up mid-morning. :)

27th December 2004 - we went to Wet n Wild!

I always pack a mixture of clothes for that time of year - and we always have jackets with us as we need them for the days we leave/return to Scotland. :thumbsup2

Either way, you'll find the days us Brits are in shorts and tee's, Floridians will be complaining about the cold! :rotfl:

It can also be very very cold at that time of year. When we went for Christmas and New Year, there was frost almost every day and temperatures were in the low 40's. We needed coats, hats and gloves.

one year in december we swam every day of our stay..

another year, in december, the kids had to wear their snowsuits, hats and mittens..

so you never know...

I think weather between December and March can be unpredictable, kind of the way the world climate is changing.

You will probably find over the years it's been sunny and dry over the Christmas period, but definitely on the cool side in the morning's and evening's.

The only time I have seen UK type rain (ie all day) has been late February and March.

I went Jan 3-18th this year and agree with all these posts-the weather was mixed, not much rain though. Just be prepared to change your plans as result of the weather - we had to change waterpark days around. If you go in Jan its quiter and we got ADRS on the day when we changed our plans around!!

Hiya,

We were at WDW 13th - 28th Jan this year. Weather was very cool in the mornings, then spring like warm days in the main and cool again in the evenings. We did have a one or two bitterly cold days though. This mainly effected us on the trams going into the parks, the wind was bitter on the way into Epcot but once in the park and in the sunshine we did eventually warm up :lmao:

We only had one day where we had a very light rain shower.

We liked the weather so much that we have booked again to go in Feb 09. The weather was perfect for us especially with having LO's (4 & 2), didn't have to worry about suncreams etc too much, didn't get too hot at the parks - just nice :thumbsup2

I have been wondering about this as well. I have read reports of U.S citizens finding Florida cold in December but I have been wanting to get a Brit's perspective.

I know it will be warmer than London in December, but i'm not sure exactly how warm. I am going to pack for all types of weather and am hoping to be able to wear shorts and t shirts for most of the day with an occasional fleece in the mornings. I don't feel the cold much but my Girlfriend does so if it isn't that bad she can wear it instead. What did you think of the temperature?

Much warmer than London!!!! Yes there are cold days but a fleece will be fine, I wore hoodies, never needed a jacket.

We went to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon and hung around by our pool - so its not too cold at all!

I'm English but live in Mallorca. We have always gone to WDW the first 2 weeks of December and only ever remember feeling a bit cold in the evening a couple of times and we are used to a much warmer climate than you are. When we were there 4 years ago we got the coldest day of the year and were fine in fleeces or sweat shirts.

thank you everyone for your replies!!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

I am really pleased to hear that the rain isn't too much of a problem. ;) I was actually surprised how much we enjoyed legoland despite it being cold - its just by the middle of the day we were all drenched and I can imagine that if we were facing rain day after day in WDW, that it would get me down a bit!!:lmao:

I think I'll just check the weather each day and if it looks a bit chilly maybe we will wear roll up trousers and a fleece with a t-shirt underneath - we can then whip the outer layer off if it brightens up!! - perfect!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Here's to 'dry days' - even if they are a little cooler!!;) :cool1:

thanks again!!:lovestruc
