What is the best thing to take to the park if you think it might rain? I sure hate to lug an umbrella around. My trip is May 18. My only other idea is take a hoodie along, but I hate to lug that around too. How much of a hassle is renting a locker at the park?

Go to Wal-Mart (or the superstore of your choice), head to the camping section, and pick up a handful of the ponchos for $0.87 each. They're small, fit into any pocket/handbag/backpack/fanny pack, and when it rains just throw one on! When you're done, you can either throw them away (hey, it was under a dollar!), or dry it out and fold it back up for next time.

Yes, those are a life saver. You can also find at the Dollar Tree 2 for $1. We use them on Kali River jsut so we won't get too soaked!

Bring flip flops or crocs to the parks in your bag if your not already planning on wearing them. They are light weight and you can change out of your tennis shoes and socks to keep them dry during the rain showers, then change back if you want.

they sell raincoats, sweatshirts, etc in the parks but the sweatshirts are pricy.it hasent been that cool here yet about 60s for the low.hasent rained too much yet either but we are entering hurricane season. i wouldnt lug stuff around because you will feel like a pack mule at the end of the day. the lockers werent hard to rent but sometimes have a line i think there about $10 and you can use it all day as many times as you need to get into it. at MK it is under the train station. I like the idea others posted about getting the ponchos at the dollar tree etc. You relly cant use an umbrella in DW because theres too many people and here in florida we have driving rains with the winds so it wont do you much good anyways. my poor DD when she was 3 we went thru a monsoon and her shoes got soaked while the rain came off the stroller and it all went into her poor little shoes. now we have a stroller cover and she tucks her feed up under it. This trip we are bringing extra socks and watershoes for when /if it rains plus she can use them when playing in the sprinklers etc in the parks.

I leave for disney in 2 days. I went to my local Dollar Store and bought ponchos, two in a pack for $1.00. Can't beat the price!

Yeah, we've seen the people with the 85 cent ponchos, wind ripped them to shreds and people trying to put on the flimsy things tore them beyond use. We purchased our yellow Disney ponchos 8 years ago and have used them over and over on the last 11 stays. For the use you get to stay dry, I'll take quality over cheap quantity any day. Those yellow ponchos are thick, shake dry and fold up good and small. I always go by the adage, you buy junk you get junk.

As for using the lockers, they are in front of the parks and if you're in the rear.................just as easy to fold up the poncho, squeeze the air our and put it in you waist pack, we only take them if unusual rain is forecast but not for the typical 3 pm shower.

My BFF and I just took the kids to the Dollar Tree over the weekend to get a few things for our upcoming trip.

2packs of the ponchos(2 in each pack)
glow necklaces(the ones in the park cost more)
coloring books (to keep kids occupied during the drive)
some treats too(cheaper than buying at full price)

When we came home and told my husband all the stuff we'd gotten for 10 bucks he marveled and said that atleast I was trying to save him money before we got to Disney.

This is also what I do - treat them as "disposable." If you wear a regular "hoodie," it will get soaked unless it's completely waterproof.

Next trip, I plan to bring a sturdier poncho, though. I tried using the cheapie disposables last October, and they were just too flimsy. I did buy a WDW poncho and kept reusing it, but it also wasn't too sturdy (and tended to cling like Saran wrap because the plastic it was made from wasn't very sturdy). I bought a nice poncho at Target (Eddie Bauer brand) that's made of plastic that shouldn't cling too much when wet. since I carry a small backpack, it wouldn't be a hassle to fold it up when not in use.

But if you don't want to carry a backpack, just tuck one of the Target cheap ponchos in a pocket and go!

Disney Shopping.com Has Mickey Hooded Rain Coats, I Bought Mine When They Had 30% Off, Came To 14.00. I Bought 4, One For Each Family Member, They Are Made Very Well And Will Last A Long Time. There Is A Hood And Since It Is A Raincoat And Not A Poncho It Has Sleeves. The Ponchos Are About $7-8 At Wdw. I Figured These Will Last A Lot Long Since We Go Every Year. These Are Well Worth The Price

Only thing I would add to the "Sturdy Poncho" (we use the Disney ones and have had them for years) is a small ziplock bag for your cell phone and digital camera. Sometimes my purse "popped" out from under my poncho, so having my electronics extra protected made me feel better in the downpours.

And there are some real "downpours!" Particularly for the Fall and Winter Pirates and Princesses and MNSSHP.

I got one of those at MGM over 10yrs ago and still have it. We bought 2 more last year for DD and DH to have. I will have to buy a new one for DD12 this time as she has out grown hers.
We still use the ponchos too to cover the stroller and the oxygen machine. Crocs are a must if it looks like a downpour. Epcot around the ball has the worst flooding.

Go to the dollar store and get disposable ponchos. We didnt do that and paid the price. I love my Disney poncho, but I kept forgetting it, so everytime it rained we had to buy for the whole family. Good luck

Also crocs are awesome to have because while its raining the water in your crocs drains out becuase of the holes in it so after the rain while everyone in your party that wore shoes is walking in a puddle in their shoes you can feel good becuase your feet are dry!
