hi i was wondering if anyone has eaten at rainforest and what they thought of it. if it is worth the money and how the prices where ? and if any one took there kids if they enjoyed it we plan on going to disneyland in april and trying to figure out places to eat thanks . :moped:

It's not my favorite place to eat but it is for my kids, ages 7 and 5. I will take them there if it's just me and the kids. They're entertained which allows me to eat. Price? I'd say it's moderate. I think the last time we ate there I spent about $30.00 for the three of us but you could spend less. I think I ordered one of their dinners. You could spend less by ordering a pizza, sandwich or pasta.

We used to have one at a mall about 40 mins from us, so we would go occasionally. I never found the food to be all that great - was kind of an odd menu. I found it a bit pricey for what you got - but.....if you have never been, definately go. The kids will adore it. My daughter would beg me to go! Geez...its too bad it shut down and we can't go anymore :( hahahaha. She is wanting to go when we are in DL next week and I am not sure. We are on a budget and I would rather go somewhere I have never been - but I can already see us ending up there. Perhaps I will just talk her into going in for a quick pizza and keep costs down.
So definately go - its cute and the first time is really fun.

My whole family loves The Rain Forest Cafe. It is tradition that we have lunch there upon every arrival to Disneyland. We have a membership card, and never have to wait for a table very long at all. My Mother In Law thinks it is a bit loud (rain storms, and animal noises) but it just gets the trip off on the right foot. Last trip a photographer brought around stuffed monkeys and snakes for us to wear around our necks and took our picture. Too much fun! We like the food, and it is just colorful and exciting for the kids. Even my 18 yr old twins enjoy our tradition of lunch there. We order a "Volcano" dessert once in awhile, and always enjoy hearing the waiters holler "VOLCANO" as they serve one. They serve multi colored slurpee drinks for the kids too, with a prize at the bottom of the cup in a secret compartment. Kids meals come on decorated plates. They love that. OH and they LOVE looking for Nemo and Dory in the fish tanks! Wouldn't be quite the same without a stop there! :flower: We were just there last Thursday so I guess I am still there in spirit. :earboy2:

We are the same way and have eaten our first dinner at WDW there everytime we have gone with our DD. We are going to DL in April and will eat there again our first night. The food is pretty good and the portions have always been on the large side for most of the things we have ordered.

I agree with the post above, if you have never been, it is worth a look. Sometimes when we go the kids order off the kids menu and I will order an appetizer (which is usually ample enough). My favorite appetizer is the pita quesadillas. The RFC in DTD has a heated patio as well as indoor seating--the patio is better seating (quieter) if you have already experienced a rainforest restaurant.

We ate at the Rainforest in South Coast Plaza and the kids loved it - great atmosphere decent food and good staff.

Not bad for parents but brilliant for kids - i'd give it a go at least once.

We eat there now & then. The last time was in the beginning of December and they have this pasta jambalaya that is really delicious - the waiter said it's something new at the DL Resort. I recommend it if you like your food a bit spicy.

We always have to go to RFC our first night. We always fly out of Denver in the late afternoon mid week so by the time we get to the DLH, the park is closed. Going to RFC makes us feel like we are at Disneyland even though we technically aren't. I love the China Island Chicken Salad (I think that's what its called). I know its not everyone's cup of tea but I think its defintely one of those places you have to try once!

looks like we will have to go try it out sounds like a blast for our kids . cant wait for our trip in april !!!! :cool1:

Yes, they have a kids menu with all the usuals - chicken strips, fish and chips etc. I think they also had hot dogs.

Mains (or entrees as you call them in the US - an entree in Australia is the starter, which was very confusing) were around the $13 to $15 mark, if memory serves.

We love the Rainforest Cafe at WDW (both at Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom) and usually go at least once per trip!

Here are the menus (with prices) for the WDW locations.
(I would think that prices in CA would be somewhat similar.)

Lunch/Dinner (Same menu) for Adults:

Lunch/Dinner (Same menu) for Children:

Hope this helps out your planning a bit!

We used to always go to the AK Rainforest at WDW until one opened in Nashville so now it's not quite as "special" any more. If you go often (even just once a trip) I highly recommend joining their Safari Club. It's $15 for a lifetime membership. You don't have to make reservations (just walk up and flash your card) plus you get a $10 gift certificate for joining then more gift certificates on your birthday and anniversary every year. At each meal you also receive your choice of a free appetizer or 10% off the total bill.

Even though we have had good intenetions, we have never saved room for the VOLCANO even when we just went for a snack and dessert. The portions are good size and we highly recommend the Mojo Bones!

yes, definitely apply for the club card membership thing. hopefully there's a rfc near you! sometimes, the wait could be long! and it's great with the card. we've been there many times, and the line winds all the way around the restaurant, but we got seated right away! have fun! :sunny:

We have had lunch and dinner there several times. There is one at the local mall (South Coast Plaza) and we like the DTD location as well. I always enjoy dining there. The coconut shrimp is awesome and my DD loves their big oriental salad. It is an "experience", not just a meal :D The food is good, not exceptional, but you are paying for the atmosphere, too. Try to sit at a table next to an aquarium - it is very cool. I really think if you do not try RFC at least once, you are missing out. Just MHO.
Have a wonderful vacation, whatever you decide princess:

We're going to use the card at the new Aquarium restaurant at the Opry Mills mall in Nashville next weekend. Since it's still relatively new the lines can get REALLY long, but we just flash our card and we're in. It's great!

We went a couple of years ago when we went and I will definitely go back when we go in October. We just all got sandwiches and drinks and I remember thinking how annoyed I was that it wasn't all that much more than mcdonalds had been the day before, and there's the fun gift shop and the atmosphere. my boys were almost 9 and 10 1/2 and they thought it was way cool.
There is also some kind of rainforest cafe club you can pay a fee and join and then I think you get 10% off or a free appetizer something like that.
You can also go to http://www.mouseplanet.com/drr/ and then scroll down and find downtown disney restaraunts and click it then scroll down and find the price list for Rainforest Cafe
