one more consideration...do you have your own car? Rainforest at AKL is kind of a pain to get to & from unless you're also visiting that park that day. If you're driving yourself, it's not an issue.
Have been to RAinforest CAfe at Downtown Disney (February 2012) and just was at T-Rex on Monday (3/5/2012) The food was good at both places, but have to say the service at T-Rex was SOOOOO SLOW! We were there mid-afternoon, about 3/4 of the tables were being used in the meteor/fire room, the bar area and the ice room...the back room wasn't being used at all. So the place was not jam-packed by any means. However, it still took nearly 90 minutes to eat there. The pacing was really bad. We were sat, and it took about 10 min. for waitress to show up to Take drink orders...the drinks don't show up for 10 minutes. Take entree orders...and we also asked for water. The water shows up 10 min. later...entrees were nearly 30 min after the water (no one special-ordered anything. All straight off the menu, no changes.) And then took 15 min to get the desserts, and though we asked for the check immediately & asked her to process it immediately, it was another 15 minutes before we had the final ticket. Food was good, and atmosphere is fun, but don't think it's worth 90 min.
Rainforest is also fun atmosphere (and basically the same exact food, just "jungle" names on the dishes instead of "dino" names.) Service was much, much faster, even with an added appetizer course that time. Everything was bing-bing-bing. Ordered beverage, it was on the table 2 minutes later. Appetizer showed up about 5 minutes after the beverage and entree showed up about 15 minutes after the app...and she took the dessert order at the time she delivered the entree. Dessert showed up just as I pushed my plate away. Bill was processed on a timely basis. Start to finish, about 1 hour...time enough to enjoy the food, enjoy the atmosphere but not get antsy, lol.
So I'd say if you'd been to Rainforest, go ahead and try T-Rex if you have plenty of time.
