My DD just told me she wanted to go to Rainforest while in WDW. I can't believe I'm going to pay OoP for a meal when we're on the DxDDP. Oh well the things we do for our kids. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has done both of them? Which one is better? Are they the same thing just different themeing? I haven't been to the Rainforest in over 5 years. I don't really remember it. I do know we did enjoy our meal. TIA for all the help.

Since you have been to Rain Forest. Give T-Rex a try we r. Going on the 27th can't wait. My DS(25) said it was cool & the food was very good.

We've been to both and would suggest T-Rex. We've never had good service at Rainforest, in fact, it has always been horrible. But, at T-Rex, we had great service and the food was quite good. Loud but fun atmosphere. If you go earlier in the evening, it will be a bit less chaotic.

different experience. The dining experience wasn't bad at T Rex. It's loud but that was expected. And it's a little crowded - again expected. You do have a bit of different theming between rooms which is nice. (I don't think I want to eat in the ice room though.) I think overall the menu at RFC is a little better suited for our family.

We went to both last month...Both have basic chain foods...However, we found adult meals to be a bit better at Rainforest....

TR is a very cool experience if your child is into dinosaurs...Our server was okay but nothing to write home about...The food was okay...It is very loud at times...But still very cool...I would not pay OOP if you are on the deluxe plan unless your child is crazy for dinos like my one DS...DH and one DS says this is better....

RFC was the request of your child and you are considering paying OOP for your child...You sound like me...We do anything to make our kids happy....So if you are going to reach into your own pocket I would go with Rainforest...The atmosphere is fun, service is fast, food is basic but good...It also gets loud there but we found TR to be louder...One DS and myself like this one more....

Just remember to order something simple no matter which you choose...The do burgers, chicken fingers, wraps, that kind of thing well...Do not order a steak and think it is going to be great.

We just got back from Disney on Sunday. We ate at both Rainforest and T-Rex. We had 16 in our party and no one was impressed with the food at T-Rex. The scenery was nice at T-Rex. If you choose to go to T-Rex I suggest you bring a jacket, I almost froze in there. As always the Rainforest was great in all aspects. Just my .02.

Thanks for all the help. I think I will keep my ADR for Rainforest. My DD isn't into dinos. I know I'm crazy to pay OoP for this but whatever the Princess wants the Princess gets (according to Daddy anyway).

They are basically the same place, thinking they are probably owned by the same people. T-rex has dinosaurs roaming around and a "meteor shower" instead of animals and thunderstorms. IMHO, Rainforest is the more effective realization, but you can't really miss with either I think.

I think this is a great decision! We've done both & I like Rainforest much more than TRex. TRex was okay, but Rainforest has more "action" than just blinking lights during the meteor showers. We've always had great service and yummy food at Rainforest. Here's an idea: I'm sure you'll eat a meal at Animal Kingdom, so you could go to the one at AK for desserts after a day at the park. The volcano dessert is really yummy & large enough to share.

And not have a meal...That is a really good idea:)

that is a fantastic idea!!! Is it OK to book an adr and then just have a dessert??? :confused3 (we could then do CS at Yak & Yeti which we really fancy as well!!)

yes, you can just have dessert :)

thats fantastic, thanks for the info!!:thumbsup2- my DS5 really wants to try the big chocolate smoking dessert as he calls it!! ;)(the volcano!!), so we could book the adr and then if we can't fit in a big meal (as we will be having a breakfast at Tusker house & possibly CS at Yak & Yeti as well that day!!:goodvibes), then we can just order the volcano and some drinks - great!!:thumbsup2

If you are doing it for your daughter-- ask her what she wants! Show her pictures of both and see what she would rather go to. The food is comparable at both.

We went to TRex just for drinks in June. It was really neat! A cool place to walk around for sure! Even if you dont eat there, Id check it out. Id think all kids would like it, if they are into dinos or not!
We have eaten at Rainforest Cafe before as well and we were happy with it there too! We have a Rainforest Cafe close to home, so I would probably pick TRex if it were MY decision. But I say ask your DD!

Do T-Rex; a friend of mine just got back a few weeks ago. She said the food was far better than Rainforest and the portions were better too. Service was fabulous....it has been hit or miss at Rainforest...

Don't feel bad, we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan too, and I am paying OOP to eat lunch at T-Rex on our first day. I made the mistake of showing DS a picture of the ICEE in the large bone glass ;)

Where did you find a picture of the bone glass? I have looked everywhere! I would like to show my son, I think he would like to see it before we go our first night.
Thanks

I don't remember--either somebody's review or Categorized food porn on the Food pictures thread
