I just returned from Florida, the Rainforest employees were rude and evasive when I tried to use the Gift certs, adventure club , and Landrys coupons. Only after I asked to see the manager and explain that the $25 GC was a cash value item, would they take it along with a coupon. What a pain!!!!! One girl told me that I could not use 2 items at a time, and we could only have 1 check per table...I said "see those 2 guys over there ,I heard them order on 2
seperate checks, so can I!!!!" She went to talk to the manager and came back after 10
minutes to say She got him to accept the 2 coupons...... You would think after all the business
We here at the DIS give these people they would cooperate. I even gave her a tip on the full
amount after this, I didn't want to create any attitudes for us with the wait staff.

Anybody else have this trouble???

I didn't have any problems using the gift certificates in November when we were down there. We ate one meal at animal kingdom RFC and another meal at Downtown disney. They didn't give back cash change, they gave back food vouchers.

I had over $250 in gift certificates and used what was left over after the meals in the gift shop.

Thanks for your reply, I must have gotten the crabby waiter both days. this happened at
both locations, the waiters acted defensive towards coupons. you would think they
have an easy time since all there tables have high checks and tips. I went by McMinville
on the way down I-24 from So. Illinois

I read on jdads2 trip report where PH gave him a hard time with giftcertificates too.........even added a 15% tip on to the bill because he was using GC's. I might try to contact RFC & Milesource and tell them what's going on. Isn't what we get (I haven't cashed in yet) the same thing as if someone went to a RFC and bought us a GC for a gift? There's no way they should give us a hard time for using them.

I had the exact same problem at Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney. As an annual passholder, I recieved 15% off my total food bill. When I gave the waiter my $50.00 in GC's, I was told that I couldn't combine two discounts. I, too, had to get the manager and explain that a GC is NOT a discount - it is like cash. The Manager FINALLY agreed to let me use both. What a pain in the butt.

Since it is a gift certificate and they don't return cash change,Why would you need to also use the AP Discount??

We were also told we couldn't use a coupon and the GC. Not wanting to aggravate myself, I didn't force the matter. As it turned out the coupon wouldn't have helped us since the cost of the meal was so close to the amount of our GC's and they don't give change back.

I do think that this is a crock. Anyone can purchase these gift certificates as gifts. Why offer them if you are going to shun those who use them? I thinnk I'll start writing some nasty letters....after the holidays, like after I try to return some gifts or stat my taxes....they don't know what they're in for!!!:D

I agree that it is silly not to give back change, except in the form of a voucher. The voucher that they gave us was for $7 and some odd change and said on it that it could only be used for food purchases (that was at AK) so a few days later we went to down town disney and ate at the other RFC. At that one, I ordered enough that the bill would be right at $60. I gave them $50 in gift certificates, the voucher, and $3 in cash because I knew that I wouldn't be going back to another rain forest for a long time. In the gift shop, I did the same thing. I bought just enough that with Tax, I had to add a couple of $$ in cash, so that they wouldn't give me a voucher that would be worthless to me.

Tink > Our bill was over $50.00 (the amount of the GC's we had) so even with the 15% discount they applied, we owed additional cash money.

Used the GC and AP discount twice in AK RFC, had no problem. But, we sat around the bar area. I have heard mixed reviews about this rest. and was hesitant to try it, buy hey, it was at minimal cost with GC. Bartender even gave us a free coke refil when waiter disappeared for a while. Food was good, but too pricey for the quality and selection. I'd rather go to counter service in Epcot for Chinese or Mexican food.

I used my Disney Club for a discount and gave them my gift certificate. Well they took it, brought back my bill but never credited me for the gc. I had to wait forever for someone to come back and they didn't know what to do. Acted like I didn't even give them a gc. Finally, they gave me the $25 off from the gc. After all the work I do to earn those gc's, it's very frustrating.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I just received the gc we ordered from MyPoints and I noticed it said all Landrys restaurants, not just Rainforest, and it said no change is given. But I didn't know they could be such jerks about it. Given the airline situation there is no telling when we'll be at WDW next, so I was planning to use it at the San Francisco restaurant. Now I'll know to order just over $25 worth and leave a few bucks in addition to the gc. We went there once before and the waiter was good, so hopefully we won't have problems. But if I had known I would have just ordered an Olive Garden gc instead!

Cheers :)

We're going to the RFC in the Burlington Mall Friday night. I have $50 in GC's from FreeRide and the $10 for joining the Safari club. Here's hoping we don't have any problems! I'll let ya know!

Sorry to hear that you had trouble using both. We went to RFC twice this past week and both times used a coupon and landry GC's without any problems. Both times we made sure that we spent a couple of dollars over so that we didn't get vouchers back.
