what location dtd or ak?
i heard one is better than the other?
are the portions really big? :confused3

HAven't been to the AK one but it does take priority seatings, a definite plus!

we're planning on Rainforest in AK after spending that morn in the park - couldnt find a counter we'd both agree on

When we go to Downtown Disney we're planning on Earl of Sandwich

Dont forget RFC at AK is open for breakfast and it is a very good one. I would say the one at AK is not as busy as DTD so that might lead to a better experience.

If you are dining at The Rainforest Cafe, consider signing up for their safari club. Especially if there is a Cafe (or other Landry's restaurant near you) near you. It costs around $20 to join, but you get a $10 coupon back for joining, then you get another $5 coupon on your birthday. On each visit, you either get 10% off, or a free appetizer. (also 10% in the store, I think) It works at many of their restaurants also. It took about two months to get the $10 coupon (valid for about 2 months), but when we used it, we also got the free appetizer, so in one visit, we got back over $17. (Though you can start using the card as soon as you sign up) Also, if you have a group with kids, try splitting the Volcano dessert -it's worth the $12!

Do the two RC look different? I want to make PS for it but I wanted the one that looks like a rainforest (AK?).

The one at AK is much less mobbed than the one at DD. If I had a choice, I'd pick the AK one. All else is the same. Make a PS just in case, but our experience has been pretty much a walk in and sit down there.

We prefer the one at AK. We were much less rushed there. DTD tends to be so crowded we felt they were hoping you would eat faster. AK was built to be a Rainforest, DTD was not. It was another restaurant that they revamped, but they did a good job. I have Safari club and it is worth it, especially if you are trying to get reservations at DTD. I can also use it at other Landry restaurants.

We did this the last time we went and we got a pretty big discount on our bill. Also we don't have any Landry's or RF around our area but everytime we go on vacation we always end up around one or the other and we get to save some money there. I have been to both the RF in AK and DTD several times. I would definitely go with the one in AK. MUCH less crowded and better service. Both look the same inside. :wizard:

The portions are pretty big (depending upon what you get) my mom and I usually split a pizza or sandwich (she's 47, I'm 23) and it is enough for the both of us. Also if it's not there's always dessert to look forward too :)

There seems to be a consenses that AK rainforest is less crowded, etc.

We went to the one in dtd, at lunch time on a slow coldish day in January. We found it to be very loud and before placing our order left. The food looked delicious, we were very disappointed we had to leave. Our family of 5 has varied tastes and it looked as though there was something for everyone.

Would the AK be a little quieter?

AK location is also very noisy but my DD thinks that if you are at AK eating here is just part of it so we will be back in May.

Don't go to either RainForest Cafe if you are looking for a quiet meal. The whole atmosphere is noisy. it can be frightening to little children. We LOVE to eat there. We ate breakfast at AK last time, and there was no wait because we had PS.

The discount is great on with the Safari Club card. BUT, thta's not the best part about it. The best thing is that you get to go to the front of the line with it. We've done this at every RFC we've gone to. That can be very helpful at Downtown, because it is very busy there. I think RFC is probably the most kid friendly place to eat at DTD besides McDonalds, that I can think of right now.

Get the card. It will make either place more enjoyable. We have to find ours. It's lost right now from our move. Anyone know if they replace them?

I think they're both pretty noisy, must be something with the design of the room. But the one at AK (when we were there) was much quieter than when we went to the one at DTD.

If it's a one time pymt of 20, and we can use it on subsequent trips, I would consider joining (we do not have a RFC here in NY anymore).

It's a one time thing. You can do it at any RFC. You need to do it in plenty of time before your trip, though, like six weeks or so. That was how it was when I joined, many years ago.
