Is the Rainforest Cafe at DTD better than the one at AK? Is Ak rainforest cafe in the park?

I have heard that the Rainforest in AK is a bit better than the one at DTD. Although im not sure why? lets hope someone else chimes in.

And yes, Rainforest is located inside AK park.

Actually, the AK one is located right at the gate. You can enter it without entering AK itself. I believe (though not entirely sure) that it also has an entrance into the park as well.

This is true. You can eat at the one at AK without a park ticket and if you exit the restaurant towards the park there is a ticket turnstile.

I don't believe there is any difference in the quality. Like almost all restaurants you could get a bad meal at either or a decent meal at either.

I think they are the same. We have eaten at both. However if you ask my DH which one is better he will say AK because in Feb 2009 we met Jeff Gordon there.

I have to admit RFC is my guilty pleasure when I arrive at Disney.

I always go to the one at DTD, since it is close to POR where I stay.

But I have done the one at AK and I find it to be slightly better on the food service side.

Both of them I usually sit at the bar, so I get great service, but it seems by observing, that AK does a better job of getting the food out without making it look like a mad rush to get it to your table. :dance3:

We have been to both DtD, and AK.....and DtD at DLR....and Las Vegas...and Seattle.
All basically the same.

Thanks everyone.. we are staying at POR and plan to eat at RFC on the day we visit AK... so I guess it will just depend on how the day goes... it will be in july so we may want to eat earlier at the park itself in the A/C or wait til we get back to POR and take the boat to DTD.

I had heard about a volcano at DTD and thought it did something exciting... but it looks like it is just a feature on the building....

There is one reason why the Animal Kingdom location is better than the DTD location, and one alone: Only the Animal Kingdom location serves breakfast, and it just so happens to be the best meal that they serve at the restaurant.

If you have kids, be sure to print out the 99cent kids meal coupons before you go.:thumbsup2

We ate at the RFC at AK. It was fine and what we expected from a chain restaurant. You can enter the restaurant from AK or from the parking lot. I have heard a tip that if it is crowded at the main AK turnstiles, to cut thru the RFC gift shop to enter the park. There is still a bag check and a turnstile w/a CM there but most people wouldn't think to do it. ;)

thanks for the coupon tip!!! and the entrance tip...

i was planning on breakfast at wilderness lodge and dinner at RFC but may reconsider and do breakfast at AK RFC ....

Thanks for the coupon!! We are planning a RFC trip here at home (and hopefully one in Disney) and these reward coupons are great incentives...for us and the kids! Thanks.

Also, I always preferred the AK RFC location. We generally do an early lunch there and it never seems overcrowded or as busy as the DTD location.

Considering it is a chain I seriously doubt that there's any significant difference in quality. These places cook by a formula and I'm sure most of the food comes prepackaged and/or frozen. So instead of cooks, you have heater-uppers in the kitchen.

Heater-uppers.. LOL I like the way you put that!!

I had seen someone say something about a volcano at the DTD one .. and I thought maybe it had better effects .. LOL

A friend of mine used to be a banker and one client was a "seafood" restaurant where all the food came in frozen and was "cooked" in a bank of microwaves. I'm sure that's how Red Lobster does it.

If you eat at DTD in the evening, be sure to have ADRs. I got tired of being on hold for 10 minutes and didn't make an ADR earlier that afternoon. The wait that evening was 1.5 hours.
