I was thinking about eating at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD. I've never been before..would you recommend it?? Also, do they take reservations as we would eat there on a Sat night and I know DTD can be very busy.

TIA! :sunny:

People seem to either love it or hate it. We love it. There are none around us, so Disney's the only chance we have to go.

I've never made reservations (use my Safari card to get a table quick) but I'm almost positive I've read that you can call them directly and make ressies. It gets busy just about every night, Saturday will be even worse so definitely make a reservation. Hopefully someone will come along with the phone number.

I'd suggest going to the one over at AK. You don't need park admission to get in and it is tons quiter and less crowded. But you have to be there before the park closes as the restaurant closes when the park does. You can also make ADR's for the one in AK. But if you can't get there then I would go to the one in DTD. We love Rainforest Cafe as the closest one to us at home is near DC inside of a mall and is no comparison to the ones at Disney.

We ate there last December before going to Cirque - we made an early ADR so it was not crowded. This is the phone number that I used to make the reservation (which I did about 5 months in advance): 407-827-8500.

We did enjoy both the food and the atmosphere - and my 2 dd's are rather picky eaters!

If you are staying onsite you can make ADR's I think. At least I know you can make ADR's for the Rainforest Cafe at AK and also alot of the DTD restaurants.

We went to the one at AK in June and the kids and I thought is was good. They loved the atmosphere. DH wasn't quite as satisfied because it was kinda dark and he couldn't really see what he was eating and his lobster was overcooked. So he says we won't be going back, but since it is currently about the only TS restaurant at AK we will have to see about that.

We have eaten at both RFC's and enjoy both, however we tend to go to the one in DTD since we stay at SSR and that makes it walking distance.

The phone number Luthien gave you (407-827-8500) is the correct one for making ADR's at RFC DTD - and anyone can make ADR's here, not just those staying onsite. It's normally not a problem getting in since very few people seem to realise you can make ADR's there in the first place. And what a nice feeling it is, bypassing everyone who's hovering by the elephant for two hours on a busy night! :teeth:

Hope that helps, :)

Thanks so much for the info! I will definately make a reservation there!

We used that number and made an ADR last Aug.

So pleased we did , we were seated in 15mins, but the walk up time and people waiting was 2 and a half hours!!!!!!!

I agree.

Maybe things have changed since some pp said they made ADR's. I was just making our ADR's for our upcoming trip on 7/27 and we want to eat at RFC (went there 5 years ago and loved it) at DTD. They told me (the Disney dining phone line) that they don't take reservations at that one. So, we'll see if we eat there or not.

If I'm not mistaken, the # that people mentioned is directly for Rainforest Cafe. It's my understanding that you have to make reservations through them. :goodvibes

mdhKitten is correct - the number that I provided is for the RFC in DTD. You need to make the reservation with them directly - not with Disney Dining.

RFC is must when I go anywhere that has one!

I have eaten at several RFC both in the U.S. and abroad. While I think the atmosphere is great, the food is so-so and overpriced. When we decided to skip on our last trip the kids told me that they didn't miss it. I think there are many restaurants in WDW that are much better than RFC, and are on the DDP. RFC is not on the DDP. As for reservations, I know that you can make them at AK, but it is my understanding that the RFC in DTD does not accept reservations.

Sorry, but they definitely do - we make reservations every time we go, by using the telephone number I quoted above. :)

I'm not sure if it has changed recently, but they only have a limited number of reservations they will take. We have tried in the past and been told that there were not any more open slots. We just bought their Rainforest card and we get almost immediate seating with that.

We ate there last Friday, we did not have a reservation. We arrived around 4:30 and had only a 20 minute wait. We all were very happy with our meals and the atmosphere was great.

The RC in AK takes ADR's through Disney. The RC in DTD only takes reservations directly through their number. :sunny:

Unfortunately the Safari Club is not an option available to non-Americans, which is why we always make ADR's as early as possible when planning our trips. :sunny:

I called the # that you guys gave me and I was able to make reservations for my trip in August. It's a direct # to the Rainforest Cafe in DTD. I was given a confirmation # from them.
Thanks so much for your help!
