I have a ressie for the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. We are staying onsite and I know that by staying onsite, if we choose to drive to the parks, we can do so for free. But, I am being told that to eat at RC at AK, I will have to pay for parking! Is that true? If so, I don't understand why. :confused3 HAve any of you had similar experiences or do these people just not know what they are talking about? My travel agent said that she has spoken with 3 different people all saying the same thing.

Any insight that you can shed will be greatly appreciated!

I think they are referring to RC at DTD. RC is right at the entrance to AK. So if you can drive to AK for free, you can drive to RC for free.

We ate at Rainforest last year in March, but we used the shuttle from our hotel so did not encounter this. That sounds crazy though-Maybe you should call yourself. :confused3

If you are staying at a Disney resort, you DO NOT have to pay to park at the AK lot.

Your travel agent has apparently spoken to 3 different people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about - which makes a total of 4, since your TA doesn't know the correct answer, either.

In the words of the Wayman Brothers... "Hated it!" Unless something radical has changed in the past year, this is the worst food expirience we have ever had at WDW. 3 times, 4 years, 3 miserable meals.
Getting there is less important than getting over the food.
After the last one my DD and I were sick for a week.

Thanks everyone, my feeling was if I can drive to AK, then I can get to RC for free as well. I do plan on calling Disney tomorrow to confirm this silliness. As for the TA, she was wondering why the Disney people would say we had to pay as well, that's why she was calling several different people.

Markb, I am sorry you have had such bad luck. My DH and I were there last March and thought that the food was pretty good. Not necessarily worth the money, but we know that the kids will enjoy the atmosphere!

Again, thanks for confirming my thoughts!

When people say things like this it really annoys me. It implies that the place made you sick, when in reality, short of food samples sent to a lab, there's no way to verify it was the foods' fault.

Just say you didn't like the food and leave it at that.

You don't say what meal you are having at RF. If is is breakfast, and your reservation is before official park opening, you may have to pay for parking. Another problem you may face if it is before park opening is that the parking lot may not even be open yet and you may find yourself stuck at the gate.

Our ressie is for 12:30pm for lunch so the parking lot shouldn't be an issue. I feel that it's just one of those things that not everyone knows what's going on. But, I will know more tomorrow when I call disney myself. Though, I am trying to decide exactly who to call: the general disney number or dining. Heck, maybe I'll call them both to see what kind of info I get.

Don't worry, phil. The Rainforest at AK doesn't take ressies that are earlier than the parking lot opens.

The Rainforest at AK does not have seperate access or parking. Even though it is outside the park gates, it is part of the AK park, and all diners here must use the AK parking lot.

Again, all Guests staying at a Disney resort get FREE PARKING at the WDW theme parks (MK, Epcot, MGM, and AK). This is a well-known and easily verifyable fact.

Pixiemagic30 WILL NOT have to pay to park at the AK Rainforest Cafe, because the only parking for the Rainforest Cafe is the AK lot, which is free to all on-site Guests.

I'll write exactly as I please. (as long as I don't make the moderators mad!)
The idea of these boards, I believe, is for thousands of WDW enthusiasts to share there thoughts, ideas, and experience with others.
That is what I did. :confused3
I voiced a factual series of experiences as we saw them. I am not "implying" the place made us sick... But I do "believe" it made us ill. You are correct, I did not think to bring "samples to the lab," but I noticed that you too are from South Louisiana so you'll understand the whole "flies like, looks like, quacks like" philosophy.
I am glad to hear others have recently had better dining experiences there, maybe things have improved since the last time we tried the RFC.
I'll take your word for it. :surfweb:
As long as I'm setting myself up for a "flaming," :stir: One other thing.

I never really got the whole "it's so well themed" thing at the Rain Forest Cafe's. Now if one was in St. Louis, or Lafayette or anywhere else, then it's ok, I guess. The animatronics are noisy and not all that special, and just felt "contrived" to me. And holy cow, when you're smack dab in the middle of 43 square miles of the planets best "theming," well the RFC seems to pale next to the "disney" theming.
Just one, "annoying" Dis'ers opinion. :hippie:
