Rainforest Cafe or Whispering Canyon?

On our day that we will be spending at AK, do you guys recommend Rainforest Cafe? If so, do you recommend it for lunch or supper? We're staying at Wilderness Lodge so our other option would be to make ressies for Whispering Canyon Cafe for supper after spending the day at AK. We have ressies for other places every other day so this might be our only chance to go to WCC. I've heard some negative things about RFC so I'm torn about where to go! Thanks!

I've never had a bad meal at the Rainforest Cafes at WDW, but some people don't like them. However, you can go to RFC's in other cities, but there's only one Whispering Canyon! If it were me, I'd have lunch at a counter-service place in Animal Kingdom (my favorite is Pizzafari), then dinner at WCC after you leave the park.

I would chose WCC. We enjoy RFC but because you are staying at WL it makes it nice to able eat at your resort. that way when you are done eating you can enjoy WL.

Rainforest is great for breakfast, but of the two I'd chose Whispering Canyon. WCC is just so much more fun and I think the food is better.

Give yourself a dinner time of 6:30pm or so and then you can meander out of AK and make your way home for dinner in a decent timeframe. Oh and ask for ketchup.

We've never gone to WDW without eating at the Rainforest Cafe. We've never gotten bad food or service at either the Downtown Disney or Animal Kingdom location. I would definitely recommend calling and making reservations though.

I 2nd the try at another city. Thre is not however another WCC! WE enjoy flame tree BBQ CS in AK. WCC is a must do for this family every trip!

Tough call! Our family loves both and usually we make sure that we do both on each trip because we don't have either restaurant near us. We like going to the RF for lunch on days that we enjoy early EMH at AK. As soon as we walk up to the AK we head to RF and make some lunch ressies. With WCC, we always make sure that is the breakfast that we have on the morning that we are heading home. I'm not a breakfast person but I love their western omelette and dh always get their breakfast skillet.

Do you want to watch monkeys, elephants, and fish or watch CM's for your entertainment? I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Me personally, I would do WCC over RFC. We have a RFC about a 1/2 hour from our home, so we can go to it anytime we want. As for WCC, I am like the other posters, there is only one and it has great food and an awesome atmosphere. WCC is one place we always have to do while visiting WDW.

We would do Rainforest, we like the one at AK more than DTD. I love the theme and it's fun. WCC is loud and the food was lousy both times we were there.

Can you make reservations for RFC at AK through WDW dining or do they have to be made at the restaurant and how far ahead can they be made?

I'm glad we have tried WCC because it definitely is unique, but don't think we would return. It is definitely loud and crouded, we waited a long time even with an ADR and DH was NOT AMUSED by the antics. I think the kids and I would have had more fun alone. As soon as she walked up and threw the napkins all over the table I could tell he was annoyed. I know, he should lighten up, I mean it is WDW!! But I think it is a place that some people would be annoyed by. I thought the food was just ok.

We have a RFC within driving distance here and eat there every few months, so it wouldn't be anything different than we could do any other time, but we always enjoy the food and atmosphere there.

I would go with WCC! When we did AK last year we stayed til after the parade then headed over and did WCC we had a blast

I too vote for WCC. Especially since you're staying there.

The human interaction is great versus the show of the animals at RFC. We've never had a bad meal at either.

You can make ressies for the RFC at AK through Disney. I did it last summer at the same time I made my other ressies. We enjoyed our dinner there, and I'm thinking of doing breakfast on the next trip. Unlike other posters, there are no RFC near us (central Mississippi) so it is a real treat for the kids (and me). But we are also planning on WCC!

I would definetly choose WCC over Rainforest. I think after a day at Animal Kingdom..its enough with the animal thing already!...Especially if you are staying at the WL..it's a great way to end the day at the WCC! You'll be glad you did.

It depends - If you live somewhere where there's a nearby RFC, go to WC, for the same reasons mentioned above. If you don't, I would probably go to RFC.

Of course, there IS a RFC near where I live and we go there at least twice a month. Yet, no Disney trip is complete for me without at least 2 meals there.
