I need to make reservations here shortly and wanted to get some votes on weather I should make for lunch or dinner time...

we did both and didn't make any reservations. I am risking it and not making any this year again but if I were to make them, I would make them for Dinner.

Making a reservation is so easy I would do it. I like to eat a small breakfast, hit the park for awhile, then take the monorail in, eat then monorail back into the park. Dinner is always more busy but it's up to you. What do you want to do eat lunch or dinner??

Well Saturday is going to be our down day and just hanging out at downtown disney. So I decided to make a 5:30 reservation. We are planning on sleeping in that morning and then heading to DTD and doing some shopping, hanging out a ESPN for my hubby and anything else that there is to do down there.

We usually do a lunch, we never make reservations and usually only have a few minutes wait for a table. On a weekend for dinner I might want reservations though.

I was really disappointed with our visit there last week. It was the first time my Mom has ever been there and they put us at a table with no animals near us at all. So my Mom couldn't understand what the fuss was all about over the place, so she missed out on seeing the best parts. Then we get a server who was just down right rude. Didn't take our order for a LONG time, even after taking the order of another table who got there after us. Took forever to even bring us a drink refill. Then charged us for items we never even ordered, I'm just glad we caught it on our bill. No apology even, just "Oh that's a mistake". Duh! It was just all bad. I do love it there and will be back, but hopefully we'll get another server.

We like Rainforest too. Lunch and supper would both be nice. I don't think the menu changes from one time to the other, so go when it suits you. Sometimes it's nice to leave "the Land" for a different lunch or supper in DTD. Last time we went we just made a reservation for later in the day as we were walking by in the morning.

ESPN Zone is great too. DH was the reason we went, but once there we all loved it. There were good healthy things to eat on the menu too. One daughter had a make-your-own salad. It came with all ingredients (lettuce, veggies, chicken salad, dressing) separate. Great for picky eaters and kids who don't like their food all mixed up (or touching, God forbid!) on the plate. My other daughter had a great fruit plate with yogurt for dipping. We had beer and nachos. YUM!

When we were at Rainforest Cafe in Feb. 2006 I had this awesome BBQ chicken thing. It was a tortilla with pulled chicken and BBQ sauce in it, all grilled. It was sooooo yummy and I've been craving it ever since. But I just looked at the RC menu and didn't see it. Does anyone know if they still serve it???

I have heard that RFC coupons never expire, even though they have an expiration date. Have you found this to be true? :goodvibes

I think it really depends on how you like to tour. We never do a sit down meal in the middle of the day so not to use up park time. (Yes we are a bit commando lol) We usually save our sit down meal for dinner so we can relax and then spend the evening wandering around doing what we want. The kids love RC. As always we have booked a dinner there for the kids.

I personally have never considered Rain Forest to be a dinner resturant. Always go there for lunch. IMHO very much atmosphere, not so much quality...

I would rather do Mimi's out of the park any day for dinner

Between 1 and 3 are not as busy and you also get a nice big meal between lunch and dinner (we snack or have pb& j's when we get back to the hotel.) We have never had to make reservations if we go at this time. Yummy menu too!!:hippie:

How far in advance do they take reservations? We have never been to a rainforest cafe and I think we might try it out while we are in Disneyland this year.
Thanks!

Well, I'd actually go for breakfast. They are one of very FEW RFC that serve breakfast and it was AWESOME! I am not thrilled with their lunch/dinner food. I think it's ok, but expensive. When in DL or WDW, we always hit RFC for breakfast (but our family loves breakfast at any time of the day :) ).

They take reservation up to a year in advance. We will be doing dinner on a saturday night and have heard to get the upstairs for all the animals that come to life. Is that true?

I wouldn't make reservations. We were just in DL for 6 days and ate there twice w/out much of a wait. If you're really hungry, you can always eat in the bar area too. It is chilly in there though, so you want to make sure you are bundled up.

I didn't much care for any of their food w/ the exception of the hot wings. Those were delicious (and I am picky about wings.) I ordered them both times we went. I was never a fan of RC though. We used to have one locally when we lived in AZ, so it wasn't anything special.
