Hi everyone

We are coming for our first ever disney trip in september/october  and have made an ADR at Rainforest Cafe Dontown Disney. I have a few questions:
1. Is it any good???
2. Is it on the DDP? On disney's website it says it is, but I have read a few forums that say otherwise - or are they talking about RC at AK?
3. Do they have a kids menu?

Thanks for your help all!!

Kathryn

1- We ate there once.
We see no reason to go back.
Overpriced. Nothing special.

2- I have no idea.

3- Yes.

We do like many other WDW restaurants.
But, Rainforest Cafe is not a Disney restaurant.

It's tricky asking about "food."
One person's favorite can be another's dread.

:welcome: to the DISboards, katvdm!!

Thanks!

If it is not on the standard dining plan I guess we won't waste more money then!! Bit of a bummer, the atmosphere sounded good for the kids.
Maybe next time round

Don't waste you time eating there but go in and take a look.

Agree.. We ate there in March and it was just blah. I think I paid $14+ for a hamburger, and they charge extra for fries. It was cool to look at but thats about it.

We ate there last month. We thought everything we ordered was very good but a little costly. Usually when I pay that much I have a doggie meal to go home with me but not here. Somehow they lost us and we ended up waiting way too long to get in. Blamed it on they didn't have a table for 6 but they seated 6s and 8s and 22s so there were tables. Got the impression they didn't think a group of local women would leave a tip. Was not impressed with the theming either. Very noisy.

I have to ask...

How did the seater know that you all six were locals?

And, did you leave a tip? ;)

We have eaten there before, the food was not that great. You are paying more for the atmosphere than the actual food. Wasn't impressed at all!

Thanks!

The atmosphere at Rainforest is good, but the rest more than makes down for it. But since you're at WDW, there's atmosphere everywhere!

The atmostphere of RFC is great and my kids love it. It is like an overpriced TGI Fridays or Chili's. I've had worse at some WDW restaurants and knowing that it is like a Fridays we don't expect much. Their portions tend to be generous even though their Bamba Wrap has shrunk to about half of what it used to be ten years ago.

RFC is owned by Landry's and is not part of the DDP. But if you are an AP holder you can save 10% (I believe that is the correct current amount) on lunch you just have to mention it and show them your AP. Check the RFC website - RFC for a menu. Often on their website you can find coupons for $0.99 kids meals with the purchase of an adult entree.

If you have kids it is worth the price of the food to have the experience.

At this point I could skip the place but the kids like it.

It surely seems like their food portions have gone done and prices have gone up. During our 2007 and 2008 trips I really liked the food. The food is still good but the menu has changed and I prefer what they had on the old menus. That is subjective of course.

The DW and I are planning our next trip and we are hoping, sorta, to skip the place but the kids seem to like it so we might still go.

You can become a member of the RFC, try their website, and you get a discount at least the first visit and priority seating.

Later,
Dan

T-Rex is owned by the same company but the food is 100x better plus the same atmosphere. It is not on the DP but if you have a free night I would reccommend checking it out.

I have a completly different opinion of it... I LOVE IT!!!
We go there everytime I go to Disney. I love the Ribs and I thought it was a good price for the quanitity that you get. I look forward to that part of the trip.
Rainforest cafe is a chain and if you have them around you I guess it is not that cool of a place, but I don't have anything like that near me and I really like the atmosphere.
If you want to go try it you should, just because some people don't like it does not mean you wont.:goodvibes

I don't do dining plans and can't help you there.

Rainforest Cafe is okay, but nothing special food-wise. It is loud and crowded and an exceedingly un-relaxing meal. Kids who aren't tired might like it. Kids who are tired will likely be over-stimulated.

I'm sure there is a kids' menu. It isn't like they built the place for adults!

Well, that's disappointing, I tried becoming a member on their site, but it said I could only do so at a RFC location??
