Greetings,

Would love to have some feedback on the rainforest cafe in AK! Thinking about doing lunch (11:30am) here on our next trip to the world.

Also, can you make ressies through disney for this restaurant?

Thanks in advance for the input!

Our family enjoyed the environment created in the rainforest cafe. The animals and thunderstorms were great. This is a noisy place to eat, however that did not affect our opinion. Our food was very average and we felt the food was very overpriced for the quality. We have selected to not return to this place again with so many good quality places to eat in wdw. This being said, I feel everyone should try a place at least once as everyone's opinion is different. :)

We visited there twice last November. Waited about 5 minutes before being seated. The food was good, not great, but good. Big portions and a lot of choices. They accept advance reservations (DTD location does not). Lot's of distractions for kids.

I've heard that the food & service is better at the DAK location than DTD. We've never tried the DTD so I don't know for sure.

The food is good, portions are large, and the atmosphere is fun. Because it's a chain restaurant, it will not be well thought of around here. :snooty: which I don't understand - apparently the Stouffers mac and cheese at Liberty Tree Tavern is acceptable (and "wonderful" according to the some reviews), but a burger and beer from a Landry's owned restaurant is not.
For us it's a must do every trip, even though we have one close to home. Go and enjoy! And don't forget, they do not participate in the DDP.

We've not been impressed with RFC (either one of them at WDW). Once you get over the novelty of the surroundings (very quickly) its just a loud restaurant with poor service and mediocre food.

I'll have to second OKWLover's opinion. Whether it's a chain or not makes no difference to me but the quality of food certainly does. I do not care for the food at all. And the noise......:scared1:

If you have children, I think its a fun place to go. ( have 5 neices/nephews ages 10-2 & my kids were 15 & 17 & everyone liked it. Yes, its noisy & if you have a small child who is afraid of thunder or loud animal noises, you may try to prepare them or may have to avoid it. I have seen a few babies crying when certain effects take place. I found the food to be fine. They have the normal fare for kids (i.e. chicken fingers) Didn't think they were overly priced compared to other restaurants. Like other poster said--I think it is worth trying & seeing what your experience is. However, it is noisy, so if that is a pet peeve you may want to avoid it. Also, a hint--you don't have to go into the park to go to the restaurant. Deb

I had eaten at the RFC in Minnesota many, many years ago and I thought it was just wonderful. Great food. Great atmosphere. When I planned my trip to Disney last December, I was very excited to eat there and take my DD4. We even paid OOP because it is not on the DDP. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food as well as the service. Our server took forever to bring us anything and my crabcake dinner was completely unappetizing. The atmosphere is fun, however, and I would recommend only getting appetizers and sharing instead of getting entrees if you want to try the place. As for us, we will not be trying it again at Disney.

The food there is the same as if you were eating at one of their other locations...chain wise. They have a decent selection and the kids love it. While I would'nt rave about it. It's always been good and the service has been also. If you have never tried one it's deffinately worth doing at least once.

RFC is our least favorite place to eat at WDW.
When planning this trip, DH said to me, "I don't care where we eat this time, just as long as its NOT RFC".....

It was loud, the service was lousy and the food was yucky. The only thing that brightened the meal was the volcano my boys ordered to share. They got a kick out it but other than that on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 3.

I think the food is decent, overpriced for home but Disney average. Atmosphere is fun, it is a bit loud though. Wait can be long but you can browse the store during your wait. We go in May, I don't know how it is during other times of the year but around that time anyway I have to say bring a sweater. They have the ac cranking!

I love RFC. Always go to both the AK and DTD.

I don't understand how people can say it's "overly expensive". It's no more expensive than any other sit-down restaurant at WDW, in fact, less than most.

As for the food, I've never had a problem with it.

RFC is fine. Food is decent. Large selection. No more expensive than other WDW eateries. Considering the limited dining options at AK, I think it is a good choice.

DTD location tends to be much busier, more hectic, and the tables seem closer together. RFC at AK, I have never seen it jam packed full, which is what the DTD location appears to be most of the time.

The store is a pleasant diversion for the shoppers. The animatronics are a good distraction for the kids.
