Rainforest at AK - any comments?

We had vouchers and ate lunch there. We saved about $100 comparing the bill to what I spent on the VKL vouchers. The food was okay, not great, but not bad either. We generally love RFC, but I didn't think the food was quite as good at this location....maybe it was just what we ordered.

It is a fun place to go, and I think worth it for the atmosphere.

We had breakfast there before going into AK one morning. The food was fabulous, the service left something to be desired though. It was kind of funny, there was me (short and fat), dd (sweet and cute), and SO (tall, dark, handsome) and we ordered a regular breakfast of some sorts. Well, they ordered of OJ, Milk, Coffee, things like that for drinks, I wanted iced tea as I must have my morning tea fix. The entire time we were eating, the waitress (who was training another girl) kept SO and DD's drinks refilled and was just as nice to them as possible. She never refilled my drink and only acknowledged me when I asked for a refill (but she never brought it). I didn't say anything to the manager or anything, basically because I was not quite as outspoken as I am now LOL.

But, I think this was a fluke, and we are planning breakfast there again this trip. Oh, and on the last trip, we had lunch at RFC in downtown disney and everything about it was great, food and service.

WE have eaten at RFC twice and enjoyed it very much. The food was really good. Our service both times was VERY slow but we like RFC as a break at AK and that was fine by us.
Enjoy.

I like the RFC. I have eaten in both in WDW and a few others in the past. I have found that they are all similar food and atmosphere. The DTD location is usually very busy after 5:00, so I usually go to the AK RFC after our day at AK.

i'll agree that service there is slow. when i was younger, i LOVED RFC, thought it was sooo much fun, and still think their coconut shrimp is amazing. however last time i was there, i thought it was too loud and the "storms" that occur approximately every four minutes (so it seems) are really annoying. half the time i couldn't hear anything the other person at my table was saying! maybe i'm just getting old

Reviews of RFC are so varied on the DIS. Some like it, others dislike it.

Personally, we feel that it is a good value on Disney property. We're not the type of family that orders appetizers or desserts, and we usually just drink water at all our meals. For us, it's an enjoyable sit-down meal that is fairly priced and adequately served. It's not the best meal you'll have, but it's definitely a good one.

I like the RFC, there is one not far from where I live, food and atmosphere are all pretty much the same, I like the food for the most part, but I only had breakfast at AK once, and that was the only time the service wasnt quick, it wasnt busy, and we were seating quickly, but then had to wait about 45 mins for the food to come.
:umbrella:

We were at the one in AK this past April for lunch. We were on the Platinum Plan and could order appitizer, entree, dessert and beverage for each person. We had the best waitor! He was so kind to us and made sure each of us was taken care of. We had a friend with us that day and he let us use our points to buy her lunch. Everything was delicious and arrived in a timely fashion. He was super with our kids and made sure they had everything they needed. Even as we were getting ready to leave, he came and gave everyone in our party a the huge ice water cups for free! :earseek: We left him extra in the tip, even the tip was covered in the plan. We are planning on going back there this Nov. If you have any other questions, let me know. Hope you have as great a time there as we did! :D Enjoy!!!

I know this isn't the Family Board, but I wanted to add that DD (almost 3), who wasn't afraid of the characters in the parks, was a bit disturbed by the atmosphere at RFC. She still talks about it 15 months later!

Other than that: My older kids loved it. Good food. Large portions (we split).
