I see rain is in the forecast for next Thursday while we are there. Is it true that if it rains the crowds are lower? I am from Washington. Rain and I are friends. ;)

Sometimes crowds will be lower. But rain also closes a lot of attractions at DLR since they are outside.

I've seen both, we went one time specifically cause it was raining and it was packed! I've also seen the opposite so my answer is......you never know!!???!!
Also, by Thursday the forecast can drastically change. Either way, have fun!

If there is one day of rain in the next week or so then it might not rain - if there is a big rain system coming in then that is different. That might affect crowds - but if it's cloudy in the morning and a chance of rain - that is not going to affect crowds!

Like others have said, 1 day of rain in the forecast could easily change to cloudy in a few days. Generally, I've seen it clear out pretty well when it rains, but it depends on when it rains, and how it rains. The forecast for my Dec trip showed showers for 3 of the 4 days when I looked a week out, but I ended up in capris and a tshirt 3 of those 4 days...

If it's the morning, and a sprinkle or a quick passing shower, then everyone tries to go shopping.

If it's in the later evening, then people escape home, so enjoy it! I have a great memory of going with my BFF, and it started to rain Saturday night at like 10pm for a 12am closing... We rode Space Mountain ad nauseum until.... well, until it added nausea ;) And then we walked out of the parks that were relatively deserted.

Now, when I was there in December, I went into Its A Small World and it was overcast. Came out to a torrential downpour. And of course, my rain coat was in a locker on Main Street. Ugh. Worst planning moment ever! However, it was over quickly (like, 2 minutes *after* I got bundled up into my coat, of course), and it didn't affect crowds much at all.

I say, not really. We just came back, it rained a bit. We didn't see any reduced crowds. People come prepared with rain gear.

I'll be there next week too, and am from WA as well! Rain? No problem. I was just worried about being able to handle the heat! :earboy2:

YES!! I agree - being from Oregon, it's the heat I'm concerned about. :firefight

I've read that it's been pretty breezy down there lately so hopefully that'll help! The downside is that if it's *too* windy they'll cancel the fireworks. I guess I'll just hope for a mild breeze and short lines for cold drinks/dole whips! :)

I haven't noticed much difference in rain crowds the past couple times it has rained. We remember one pretty bad stormy day in 1997, and it was really quiet that night. Towards the end, we were just sitting on a bench while the older kids rode Space Mountain over and over and over again. If it were a bad storm, then you might lose the locals. If it is a day of rain showers intermittent, I doubt you will see much change. It rained on one of our days this past summer and Disney just sold a ton of $$ in ponchos and people kept on going! It did cancel the fireworks and paint the night parade tho.

If it is raining when you wake up in the morning, you can mostly count on pretty low crowds because locals will look out the window and immediately change their plans if they were going to go that day (at least, that what I do) ;).
