I know that a 40% chance of rain doesn't mean it WILL rain that day or that it will rain ALL day. But still. I am starting to feel rather uneasy about the weather reports for our trip (the 2nd until the 8th). Sigh.

I know how you feel since we are leaving tomorrow (Friday). But if the weather is a little grey it will really feel like december to us since we are from PA. And besides, it's DISNEY!!!! My wifes name is Debbie and I am Tom; maybe we'll see you at the mixer on thursday.
Enjoy your vacation
Tom

Depends on where you look, Accuweather and National Weather Service forecasts are not predicting rain the TWC is. I have personally found The Weather Channel's forecasts to be horrible up here in the Northeast and stopped checking them altogether.

I expect it to be cloudy some days and still a heckuva lot warmer than it is in Maine, that's what I'm planning for. I also expect to see some sun too.

Being from Florida and a monthly visiror to Disney I can tell you this: Don't pay any attention to the forecast (unless it's a hurricane or tornado). You can be standing in the MK and watching a rain cloud over Epcot...that's a 40 percent chance of rain.

Hi, just thought I'd chime in. I won't be there anytime soon but I constantly follow the weather patterns. (I'm a closet weather junkie BIGTIME) Anywho, I recommend NOAA. www.noaa.gov they are very reliable. Accuweather is good but unless you subscribe to the pro site (I do  ) they tend to lack details. If you log onto NOAA and bring up Orlando, on the bottom right corner of the page, click on forcast discussion, this will give you a better idea of what they are expecting and what the variables are. Just skim past the "metorologist speak" and read the "long term forcast" discussion.

We are going on some of those same dates.
It's Florida, the weather changes rapidly and rarely stays the same for a whole day. 30% chance of rain usually means a pretty good day at WDW.

This fellow Maine-r will agree with you on the Weather Channel. They are the worst. I've been checking accuweather.com and I like their forecasts.

We're leaving from NH on Saturday morning and I was a little discouraged by the forecast. I'm off to check Accuweather and NOAA to see if they look more promising. Not that we really care about a few showers - like someone already said, we're at Disney so every day is a great day!
Any DVCer's, might see you at the member mixed on Thursday. We're going to try to stop in before MVMCP.

:rotfl: Geez, we're really all obsessed with this!

My advice is the same as vass: just find a site that gives a happier outlook.

Try http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipcode=32830&metric=0. They've got the chances of showers in there, but their little picture is a sunny cloud...so that's much better than the monsoon picture TWC reports!!

No fears, fellow travelers!! We WILL have nice weather!! :sunny:

We certainly are obsessing! There are 3 threads about rainy weather next week!!

Good news is that it looks like there will be lots of DISers there! Get those LGMH's laminated so they don't get soggy!!!

Thanks for posting those weather forecast links. I'll keep checking. I probably won't pack any clothes till Sunday.

Hey, I'm also at WDW from the 2nd to the 8th. I'd like to see some sunshine to make my photographs look nicer, but I'm also from Canada where it was -18F just a few days ago (it's currently 25F), so I'll take any warm weather that Florida offers.

In FL, 40% chance of rain is not unusual--we assume 20% every day :-)

Lookit all the Mainers going at the same time as me! :) I know we'll all have fun no matter what the weather :cool1: :wizard:

We were there last December and are returning this December at the same time. We had rain a couple of days. Although we were a little soggy, we found it very doable. And on the positive side, the were NO CROWDS AT ALL on the days it rain. We rode everything in sight at MK within a few hours. What fun!!!! The pictures were awful, but it provides great memories!

If the forecast is for 40% chance of rain, how is the weather if it's not raining? The little graphics show raindrops and clouds for the entire week. Are they going to be cloudy days all week or will we see the sun?

I was in WDW with my family in June, and we encountered the same situation. Every day's forecast had at least a 20% chance of rain accompanied by an angry cloud with raindrops. Maybe we were lucky, but although it did rain every day, the time in between the showers was beautiful with blue skies. Only one day was there a horrible rainstorm accompanied by thunder and lightning. We're going back in December, and as far as I'm concerned rain in FL beats snow in MA anyday!

Ten days and then again a week before our trip earleir this month rain was predicted almost every day. It varied back and forth -- all days, a few days, most days -- until we left, then it was supposed to rain one day for sure, others a low chance.

NO rain, none, for five days, not a drop after midnight the evening we arrived (It was pouring when we arrived at 5:30 pm but who cares. We were at AKL and ate at Boma.) Gorgeous weather the whole time.

You never know. Burden yourself with the ponchos and mini-umbrellas to improve your odds of not needing them!

I am sticking with acruweather which basically looks like Fri night rain forsure and the others are at 30-40% chance of rain.
Some that say rain the chance when you look is 4% how can that be.
Oh well hopefully we will get sunshine and if not we will put on our raincoats and go through the rain and have no waits on the rides !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can mvmcp be rained out ?????????????? or do they carry on no matter what????????????????
