O.K. any Florida DIS'ers/or anyone who just returned..

My 1st ever week in Florida is coming up FAST & so far every day I will be in your wonderful state it says scattered t-storms & a 60, 40 & 40 % chance of rain.. :umbrella: Monday, Tues, Wed (I'll be there Sunday too but it's a Downtown Disney day/relax in the pool/Chef Mickey's)

Does "scattered" tend to mean brief showers than sun, or does it mean it could rain but probably won't.. I would like the forecast better if it said 20% chance of rain! This is putting a damper on my spirits, here in Wisconsin scattered thunderstorms, tend to mean it rains & at least for an hour or two!

Thanks for any insight into this!

1st family vacation ever, starts this Saturday :cool1: will be in the (hopefully) SUNNY :sunny: state of Florida Sunday morning :cheer2:

We were there in March - supposedly lowest rainfall time of year :umbrella:
HA! We got soaked most days. Make sure you have spare trainers - our last day we went to Epcot and got so soaked the lining of my trainers ran and turned my socks pink! (Luckily they were my old pair so it didn't matter that I ditched them - they were still soaking the next morning!) I bought a small umbrella in Walmart (only about $6) which I carried or put under the buggy - much easier than the ponchos unless you're somewhere really crowded.

Carry your waterproofs to keep the rain away! Also, it can be very difficult to dry things as the rooms are all a/c - we found cotton surfer shorts particularly obdurate, but football shirts dried fine!

I was wondering the same thing. Here in the northeast when it is very hot over the summer we have a chance of a thunderstorm everyday. These storms usually hit in the late afternoon and only last a short time. I am hoping that this is the same for the upcoming week. Can any Fla. residents help clear this up?

We just got back yesterday. Most days scattered thunderstorms were predicted, and most days it did rain for a bit. It was usually only for a short time a few times a day. So, it might rain for 10 or 15 minutes in the morning, 10 or 15 minutes in the afternoon, then 10 or 15 minutes in the evening. Except for one day where I got caught in a torrential downpour at AK, it wasn't a problem, we just put up the umbrella for a little while and covered the stroller and bag with a poncho when we parked it.

We went in June and it rained every afternoon. But it cleared up most everyday after about an hour. Most things are inside fortunately, or at least undercover. It shouldn't be a problem. The only park that really isn't so great in rain is AK.

When we went the only really rainy day we were at Universal, which we didn't like anyway, so we went back to WDW in time for dinner.

We were there last week as well. It was so hot and humid that the rain was really welcome for us. The cloud cover really helped as well. We did get wet one day. The funny part is that we did not want to wear our ponchos because it was so hot. My DD wore hers when we went to a 3-D show because the air conditioning felt so cold. Next time I think we will bring light jackets so we can enjoy the rain and enjoy being in the air conditioning. The buses seemed cold after being wet as well. The crowds were very light. Since this was our first trip I do not know if the rain helped thin the crowds or if this was normal for this time of year.

I've been watching the weather for next week as well. Last week it changed to sunny all week, now this week it's saying cloudy, showers, thunderstorms, etc. I'm hoping it changes as the week goes on.

Last week was typical as far as numbers go. I love it in September. We walked onto TOT at MGM and RRc.

As for the rain, we're starting to come out of rainy season. The only reason it was so bad last week was because of the feeder bands from Rita. Scattered showers here are REALLY scattered. You can drive in blinding sunshine and then hit a total black spot where it's downpouring for 2 minutes and then go right back into the sunshine.

It's funny when my parents talk about it. Mom works at MK and dad at MGM, so he'll be talking about the pouring rain and she's like "what rain?". So, point being, it's very random and rarely lasts long.
