Treat the weather forecasts in Orlando with the same "respect" you pay your local weathercasts.

Don't WORRY about it.
;)

It will most likely NOT rain a lot!

You can put out pretty much the same forecast until the fall....sunny and hot with a chance of thunderstorms every afternoon. The chances of thunderstorms increase as you get deeper into the summer months.

Thunderstorms in Florida go as follows:

3:10pm - You hear the thunder, you see the black cloud in the distance, and maybe even a flash of lightning.
3:13pm - Thunder's closer! Get inside or....
3:14pm - ...SPLOOSH. It's like having a bucket turned onto your head from above, and sometimes it feels reaaal nice on a hot summer day. Also, fabulous for your hair after the chemically treated hotel shower water. I played in the rain during high school and had the most amazingly soft, pretty hair for the five hours after it dried.
3:15pm - Still deluging. Lightning might strike very close. This is why you shouldn't play in the rain, even if it does make my untamed hair managable, and why I'm an idiot. Get inside. And don't spend the money on a Disney poncho, because...
3:17pm - ...thunder's retreating. It's barely misting now.
3:30pm - So hot and humid as to feel like walking outside into a wet wool blanket, the ground's soaked and the puddles are getting hot, and the sun is beating down onto your wet head. You might see a rainbow. :)

^^ LoL so true. Damn near rains for a bit EVERY day... But I don't hold much to trusting the weather "Authorities". Your best bet, you be the weatherman. Get out of your hotel and look up! You will probably be 98% closer to the actual weather than the forcasters :)

We will be there for 12 days starting in 2 days!

I'm worried too!! We arrive on Sunday, first time to WDW. What do you do if it rains for a long period of time?? Stay at the parks??

Some of our best days EVER are rainy days at the parks.

Robo is right...

And I repeat, Florida is NOT in a rainy pattern right now. There may be thunderstorms but they'll last anywhere from fifteen minutes to a couple of hours. It will rain A LOT during a thunderstorm, but not A LOT OF THE TIME!

We (Florida residents) can only hope for a week of rain.....

Do not fret about the forecast - even when they have told us we were going to get rain recently, sadly we have not

Give it a few more weeks, and hopefully we will be in the RAINY season!

Bring some cheap ponchos with you and use them in the few minutes that a thunderstorm would last. Thunderstorms also clear out the parks sometimes, so that's an extra perk.

I'm sorry for those vacationing here, but like makinorlando said, we really, really, need the rain. When you drive around WDW, you see so many dry (yellow) grassy areas. The green needs to return!

I had the SAME panic attack when I saw the forecast for my trip a few Junes ago. Thunderstorms predicted EVERY day. Cause there were thunderstorms every day. For 15 minutes - 1/2 an hour. One day we got a couple of hours, but that was our adults-only day at MGM, so we put on ponchos, sucked it up, and squished happily onto nearly deserted rides. By Fantasmic we had clear skies and wet shoes! (Which is why I'm gonna get something better for water than canvas this trip!)

So, don't stress. I thought my vacation was ruined. Turns out it was wonderful!

We really need the rain. There have been a lot of brush fires in the area. A great local weather station is www.wftv.com

I had included the brush fires in my post, but decided to edit it out - I didn't want people to panic and worry about those too!

RAIN RAIN RAIN!

florida weatherperson here... well, not really, but i live here, so close enough... but here's how you tell how the weather in florida is gonna be. open window/door, stick head out, that's the weather for that moment, beware of quickly changing weather, cause you don't want to get soaked in tight jeans! don't run for the hotel when the rain starts.. that's for the folks who don't know better.. stay and go on rides without lines!
