We are taking our 2 and 5 year olds next week, and the weather channel is showing a possiblity of rain (of course, it is florida afterall). What do you do to protect your kids from rain? Obviously we'll stay inside if it's a major downpour or there is lightning. But we'd like to press on through a drizzle. Do you buy kid sized ponchos? Umbrellas (please say no - I can't imagine my kids trying to hold umbrellas)? Raincoats? What works best? Thanks! :umbrella:

Don't stay inside if it rains!! Go to the parks. The day we went during a hurricane was one of the best days we ever had in MK. Got on everything, even rides I had never braved the lines for in numerous trips.

For heavy rain we use ponchos. If it is going to be an all day rain you need either the Disney ones or the better ones from target or another store not the flimsy cheap ones from the dollar store. If it is too long for your little one take rubber bands and gather it up on the sides.

Will your kids be in strollers? We have the clear stroller covers that came with our Volos. They were wonderful during our last trip. We just left them on at all times (flipped them up if it wasn't raining). We always kept the strollers covered so they were dry when we came out of an attraction. Many people had ponchos tossed over their kids in strollers, but they didn't fit well and it was difficult for the kids to see. If it's going to rain a lot, the covers are worth it.

We also wore ponchos. Bring a baseball cap for each person to wear under their poncho hood. We got so many comments from people with water pouring down their faces and into the neck of their ponchos that they wished they also would have had hats.

Umbrellas are bad even when they're being used by adults. They were even worse when they were not in use because people were swinging them around at stroller-level.

It rained (ridiculously- downpours and flooding all day long) our entire 12 day trip this year. It was a bit disappointing, but we did get used to it a bit. We sat in a downpour our last night for two hours while Wishes were delayed and then cancelled. :sad1:

Our kids have rain pants and jackets from Lands End. I think LL Bean makes a similar set. They are very light weight and roll up very small to fit in the bottom of the back pack easily. When it starts to sprinkle I dress them in their rain gear, put my own jacket on and and off we go!
No one gets wet and cranky and we can do so much more.
