Rain Forest Cafe?

Hi, I am going to WDW with my mum, it is my first trip and my mum second, she went last September and ate at RFC at AK and really liked it so has suggested we go again, even though it is not on the DDP. I thought we could go to Down Town Disney RFC on the last day for lunch, however my mum wants to go to the Animal Kingdom Rain Forest Cafe. I have ADRs booked for the other days, and I don't really want to change them to fit RFC on another day.

DTD would be easier on the last day as we are staying at POR so can get a taxi to DTD, do check in and spend the reminder of the day there before going to the Airport, will going to AK be too time consuming on the last day as we don't have a car?
we are on the VS076, 6.15pm flight, and will be getting the Virgin Holidays transfer to MCO, not sure what time we will need to leave.


Also is the AK RFC any better than the DTD one?

Ive only been to the AK RFC which is brilliant but I don't know how to compares to the DTD one. It wouldnt be difficult to go to AK on your last day, you could just use the Disney bus to get there and when you get there you don't even need to go into the park as it has its on own entrance next to the park entrance. Plus you can make an ADR for AK but at DTD you can't and whenever we have tried to eat there there has been a huge waiting time.

To avoid haveing to wait in line to use VA DTD check in you need to get there early, so you will be hanging around quite a while before all the shops open after you have checked in.

This is what we did on our last day, Claire. We got to DTD check-in about 10.30, think we only had to queue for about ten mins. We had a look in Disney Quest and the shops. When we went to Rainforest they were advising people what time to return ~ I think it was about half an hour wait so we just did some more shopping then were seated straight away. I didn't think this was bad considering it was peak holiday time. We had eaten at the AK one on our last trip and I had always been led to understand this one wasn't so good but our food was very nice ~ we would have really enjoyed it but unfortunately my youngest DD wasn't feeling well.

Having eaten at both RFC. RFC AK has a prettier setting outside setting at the back with a few good photo opportunities, but personally speaking the inside isnt that much difference once your inside and sitting down. I prefer the AK one mainly because of the other little settings they have, but if your woried about time then stick to DTD. I am sure if you plan accordingly there is no reason why you can not eat at RFC at AK.
