I have a question and I hope it isn't too silly. How do you work in RFC? I have my ADR's pretty planned out for our trip but I really wanted to take my kids to RFC. Out of my whole family only my DD9 has ever been. I was planning on Breakfastasaurous at AK and my DH kind of wanted Flame Tree (since he saw it on the food network). Should we cancel flame tree and go for RFC? Should we just come back to AK just for this? Should we just go to DTD and try it there?
Thanks, as always, for my crazy questions.

After a buffet breakfast, RFC may be alot of food for lunch. We can never finish our food there. Flame Tree is excellent, but it is a CS outdoor lunch situation. Would you consider RFC for dinner at the end of the day ?

We eat at RFC in DTD each trip, combined with our DTD shopping. Makes an experience of it's own away from a park.

We usually hit the RF as soon as we walk into AK and make an ADR for later in the day for lunch or an early dinner. We have eaten at the RF at DTD a few times but they don't take ADRs and they get insanely busy in the evening. My kids (ds 6, ds 2) love the RF so we always make sure it is on our "must do" list during a trip. The RF at AK can get busy later in the day so that is why we head there even before getting a map.

Our last trip, we went to RFC for breakfast before AK. There breakfast is really good. We have also gone twice to RFC in Downtown Disney for dinner. It is mighty busy, but you can make reservations ahead of time by calling the restaurant directly. We never waited long with reservations. And the time we did wait, we looked aroundthe gift shop. I love their gift shop.

We did RFC around 6:30 on our AK day. It gave the kids a chance to rest and recharge. Then we went back out for EMH after dinner, right when the park was shutting down. The kids enjoyed it so much, we will do it again this year.

We did Donalds for breakfast at around 10am and Rainforest Cafe for dinner at 5:30. That is all the food we could stand that day! We really enjoyed it. We don't have one anywhere near us, so it was a nice treat for me and the kids. If it was me, I'd skip Flametree, but the menu doesn't look that great to me!

I thought RFC didn't take ADR's??? How far ahead can you make them?

DTD, you must call the restaurant direct. We have a Safari Card, so we never wait too long. Spring break we waited 45 minutes while all walk ups were told 3 hours.

Not sure about AK, we had them many years ago when they were called priority seating, not sure about now.

The Rain Forest is a nice place to see, but the food was comparable to TFGFriday's, Applebees, etc. I would suggest just getting a quick lunch there. The food wasn't great, but the atmosphere was awesome.

I'm glad to hear positive notes about Flame Tree and RF. We plan on hitting both places next week.

Here's another option you might want to consider...

As others have said the food is comparable to TGI Friday's, etc. BUT...the atmosphere is amazing! We love to make a reservation and just order desserts there at about 3 or 4 in the afternoon on our AK day. It is a wonderful break from the heat and we really enjoy the VOLCANO!!!!

Good luck deciding,

Glenda

I am planning on the earliest ADR for Breakfastasaurous. I guess we could skip FlameTree and try an early dinner. Does the RF A@ AK take ADR's? Ressies?

It is not on the dining plan, but does take reservations. We made our reservations through disney when we did our others. We were on the dining plan, but we did CRT(2 credits) so we had pay out of pocket for one anyway.

We enjoyed the food. I got the steak and shrimp combo and it was really good. We all (4 of us) shared the volcano dessert. It was the day before my son's 9th birthday, and we had them bring it out to him and sing. He loved it!

I knew it wasn't on the dining plan. Actually I am planning on cashing out ,y mypoints for the RF gift cert. I just didn't know if I could make ADR's. Here is my other question...how filling do you guys think the Donald's BF is. I mean if we eat at 8 I wonder if we will be way too stuffed for an early dinner say 4ish. That was we will have all evening to enjoy the parks.

We ate around 10, and were ready for a good meal at 5. You'd probably be fine if you eat at 8, eat a snack around lunchtime, then an early dinner.

That is our plan for our MK day this trip. I'm planning breakfast at 'Ohanas, snack (really want to try a Dole Whip!), and dinner at Cosmic Rays (love this place!) Last year we did breakfast at CRT, Mickey Bars around lunchtime, then an early dinner at Crystal Palace. It was just the right amount of food!

We didn't do Donalds, but did other breakfasts last year. We ate around 9, and found we needed a snack around 2 or 3. We then did a CS dinner around 7. If you think you could go without a snack, then 4 would be good. Otherwise, I would schedule a later dinner.

I'm glad to see some positive comments about RFC. We usually eat at the one at DTD and have never had a problem, but reading some comments by other folks on other boards made me feel like we were in the minority.

We arrive around 9:30 and that should put us at AS Sports around 11:30. I was thinking about making ADR's at AK RFC for 12:30 for lunch, but had concerns about what other's had experienced. I'm going with my past experinces and book it anyway.

I love Rainforest Cafe. We always have to go, I know many don't think the food is gourmet but I think its always good and since we don't have a RFC locally, its a treat for us. I think having a character breakfast at 8:00 and then dinner at RFC at 4:00 is good. I don't usually fill up at those character breakfasts at WDW as I would at home. Too much breakfast followed by heat, rides, walking etc., is not good for me! So I generally just fill up more on the fruit than anything and then am definitely ready for a nice dinner. Have fun at WDW!

I'd skip Breakfastasauraus and have breakfast at RFC. They make the most amazing french toast and eggs benadict! We had a not-so-great experience with Breakfastasauraus, so we were really glad to find a sit-down alternative in the RFC.

BTW - breakfast isn't offered at the DTD RFC, only at AK's.
