Are there any rides or attractions that close due to rain? We will tour no matter what, but I was just curious...thanks!

Rain can be a wonderful thing at the parks IF you come prepared. We go in late June/early July and are always prepared for one "park soaker" per day. That means we have our rain ponchos handy. I bring 2 per person on the vacation, because they do get used alot and it's a good idea to switch to a brand new one about half way in the trip. Dollar General stores have them 2/$1 in neat colors. About the attractions: use the rain to get on the busy ones in each park. There will be a huge exodus from the park when it rains and that leaves alot of options open to the rest of us. I can't think of any attraction that actually closed down. The water parks will shut down if lightening is sighted. That's why we avoid the water parks--you can't be sure on any given day and they make you exit the park. Come prepared and you'll be fine. :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Thanks. That is what I was hoping to hear. We have the ponchos. We WILL tour no matter what!! 9 more days!!

Only the outside shows will close, the will delay for a little bit, but if the rain persist they will cancel that show and will proceed with the next time slot if rain has let up. :sunny:

I believe that Test Track in Epcot has been known to close when it rains. It is usually not closed for too long.

Well, Test Track is closed for refurb while we are there, so that one is out, unfortunately. :(

Depending on the rain forecast (all day showers moving in, lightining, etc.) we usually GO to water Parks on rainy days. The parks are empty, showers usually move through fast and, well, you're going to be wet anyway...

Rain was great when we went last December, mk was deserted and you could walk on nearly every ride except space mountain which had a short wait. The parades went ahead slight behind schedule as rained eased off. It did however have the effect of making the weekend very busy with everyone trying to make up lost time.

I love it when it rains in Disney!!

The parks always filter out, which makes it easier to get on those popular rides.

This past August, on our first day there we hit a downpour, on our way to the MK. Before we left it was sunny and fabulous. Once we got there I got the bright idea to run to the little shop right outside the gates and get ponchos for everyone.

I GOT soaked, but it made for a great story the rest of the trip and on our first day we did Tomorrowland and all of Fantasyland twice!!!

But next time, we will have the ponchos before we get on the bus!

Love these new ones!!!!

Enless its really heavy rain such as thunder and lightning the outside rides will not close. For light rain they will stay open, with the exception of test track I believe, I think that closes no matter what, but I'm not sure.

June/July are such hot months that a little rain would feel great. Our last trip to Disney was in July 2002. The rain poured down on us at MK, but we put on our ponchos and kept on going. I do remember the Dumbo ride closing down, only because there was a slight threat of lightning.
Just put on those ponchos and enjoy yourself! Only at Disney could you forget all of your troubles and a have a great time, no matter what.

34 days to go!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Like I said, we WILL tour no matter what, I was just curious if anything would actually close. The ponchos are packed. I hope rain in February isn't too cold.

- test track almost always closes in the rain - the outside track gets too wet

The rest depends on the amount of lightning in the area - other possibly closures would include Tom Sawyer Island (was there in June watching a t-storm rolling in, they evacuated the island!), Dumbo/Aladdin, Fantasmic can be cancelled or delayed due to lightning - a lot of metal in that arena.... many of the marinas would close due to lightning, etc.

Most rides stay open (mostly because a majority of them are enclosed). Astro Orbitor will close if the rain is extreme (which it can get at times). But closures are temporary if the storm passes quickly. But don't leave the park(s) because of rain - you can have the "run of the park" because everyone else leaves or goes shopping.
