Rain and fireworks?

I know rain can change quickly, but as of now there are expected showers on Sunday the 22nd, the day we are driving down. We had planned to visit the parks that evening, solely to ride IASW before it closes for refurbishment and to see the fireworks, since that's the only night during our trip that they are scheduled. But with this possibility of rain I'm wondering if they will still do the fireworks? And would we be able to find that out before entering the park? Basically, I'd hate to "waste" a ticket on a couple wet non-fireworks hours. Our trip is flexible- we are leaving on the 25th and can either go to the parks for a few hours the day we arrive or the day we leave.

Originally I wanted to check into our PPH room, then explore the hotel and Downtown Disney the day we arrive. But we all really don't want to miss the fireworks, and DD2 will just love IASW so we changed our plan to get down to Anaheim ASAP and get into Disneyland that evening.

Also, I've heard so many wonderful things about Cafe Orleans that I'm determined to eat there, but apparently it's closing on the 23rd!! Thoughts??

I'm assuming you've purchased your tickets? If not, I'd add a day and just go before and after, if you can possibly afford it. :rotfl:

The forecasts are still very much subject to change. And fireworks are never guaranteed to run...for instance, winds can cancel the show (in some seasons, the show can be canceled several nights in a row!) I believe they will run in light rain (provided the wind allows), but if it's pouring they may not. We went during a rainy time in December 2009 and if I recall correctly, we saw the fireworks from Downtown Disney when it was sprinkling, but the next night it was raining hard and no fireworks.

I would say to go for it and bring an extra pair of shoes to Anaheim, so you can dry out if need be. Rain does tend to drive the crowds away, so it could be a great time to experience some rides with a smaller wait time...though your weekday days may be better than a Sunday night anyway. If it were me as an adult, I'd go in the rain and love it...with a small child, maybe not so much.

(You can also try to make a reservation for Cafe Orleans on the 22nd...I think it's a great restaurant to eat at early on anyway. But if it's raining I think it may close, since there's just a small seating area inside...?)
