My dh and I are coming to England and will arrive Jan. 10th. We are landing in Manchester and have tickets for the train to Stafford. We are then going from Stafford to London on the 15th. I have heard that that there is a rail strike and am worried about my travel plans. Can anyone advise me?

I can't see anything reported about this. Where did you see it?

There was a rail strike over christmas and new year with central trains, so it was just the midlands area. It wasnt so much the trains it was the conductors i think.

I think you are right Emily. I saw it on the bbc news. The only way we have to travel (and have already paid for the tickets) is by rail.

It only really includes Midlands and i haven't heard them mentioning any other strikes, i would just keep an eye on the train websites and bbc news sites. Also normally if you are travelling from round here the only trains that operate from london are Virgin and Chiltern, so im assuming your on one of those.

If anything ever did happen, which i doubt as they normally do it when it has the biggest effect (like xmas), they sometimes put bus services on and we have national express coaches which travel to all parts of the country.
