Raiding American supermarkets!

We always buy loads of ridiculous stuff. I spent hours in Walgreens DH says I should apply for a loyalty card :rotfl: Our list goes something along the lines of

Lucky Charms, Peanut Butter Ritz Bitz, Twizzlers, Hersheys Peanut Butter Cups, Tootsie Rolls, Wild Cherry Pepsi, Mint Skittles (think they may have stopped doing these as couldn't get them on last visit) a box of Twinkies (disgusting but we buy em anyway) and as many peanut butter chocolate products as DH can find (he can't get enough)

We also buy quite a few generic medicines as they are so much cheaper than at home and DD buys loads of Walgreens cosmetics especially their stick on false nails which are very good quality and dirt cheap and lastly lots and lots of Yankee Candles :)

Some of the things you guys have put here I have seen or bought in the UK in the last year.

Lucky charms breakfast cereal- Selfridges (someone mentioned they saw this)
Krispy Kreme donuts- Selfridges- got some at Christmas
I always have a ball in Selfridges food hall (ditto Harrods and Harvey Nicks), but, unless you live in one of the UKs biggest cities, it's an exciting treat rather than a regular occurance. I actually visit the US more often (and it's way cheaper! :teeth: )

Sorry i had to butt in here! I love Jack Daniels BBQ sauce, whenever i go to TGI fridays i have it! Can you get it in the UK or where can i buy it in the US?

you can definaltey get it in Costco as I have bought it. I brought back pancake mix as I said got back on the Friday and went to Costco to get some shopping and guess what they had the Pancake mix  and ............... Cheese cake from the Cheesecake factory ;)

no Lucky Charms though :guilty:

Cinderella2006 pm me if you want a bottle of Jack Daniels BBQ sauce and I will send you it :thumbsup2

Yankee candles, not in the supermarket tho, in the florida mall, mmmm smell delicious!!

I normally end up at a Walmart rather than Walgreens. How do the two compare on range / variety and cost? :thumbsup2

I normally pick up:
CDs and DVDs (although they are pretty cheap in the UK now during the perpetual sales).
Some items of clothing that are cheaper than UK
Unusual food and drink that you can't get in the UK - (though I usually eat/drink these in the US rather than lug them all back)

I don't go overboard though, as shopping is not really my reason for going.

Oddly enough, when we are in Florida, I pick up things in the British aisle.

We usually get a couple of bottles of HP and I always bring home a few cans of Boddington's... and I'd get Irn Bru if I could find any.

Hi
My DD & my neice would like to know if there is anywhere that you can buy pink lemonade in the UK that is the same as they bought in Orlando.

Cheers
Linda

I love threads like this!

Why can't you buy more than 16 tylenol or whatever over there? I can't imagine not buying the biggest bottle of Advil I can find!

If you want Mello Yello....come on to Atlanta...home of every Coca Cola product known to man! Except my German Mezzo Mix (spezi) which I love and miss! Yes that is me drinking from the spout at Epcot!

In the UK they don't sell big bottles of medication. I'm originally from Canada so don't know the motivation for this really...perhaps its to try to prevent people from overdosing accidentally/on purpose?

Secret gel deodorant
Benadryl sinus allergy relief tablets (these are the only things that come close to helping me when I have sinus pain)
Hydrocortisone cream

I believe this is the reason that we were stopped being able to buy multiples of these. Just try buying two boxes of paracetamol without getting a suspicious look :rotfl:

Well, I once had a stinker of a headache while at Tesco and they didn't have any extra strength nurofen on the shelves at the time, just behind the chemist counter. Well, the chemist was at lunch. Do you think they let me have it?????? NO!

It's nuts really...

You serious???

Yup! It's quite nice. Most toothpaste tastes minty and this just leaves a nicer taste in your mouth (if you like cinnamon). I love cinnamon! I also try to get cinnamon tic tacs too!

It would have to be the salt and vinegar (Lays brand) crisps. I think they are lovely. I can never understand why UK CRISP companies called them salt and vinegar when they taste like ready salted... lays make my tongue white THEY TASTE SO GOOD.

hi to the folks who live in birmingham!! small world hey!!

i love the almond joy chocolate bars, also love the lays crisps.

It is not fair to get an update to this thread when I am stuck at work and feeling HUNGRY!
