We ate at Raglan Road Saturday for lunch.
We were a party of 5, DH, me, DS11, DS7 and DS4.
The place was empty at 1 PM. We were seated right away and then waited and waited for a waiter.
We were told on the DDP that the two children do not get appetizers. So DS7 and DS4 had to watch while the 3 of us ate soup. We ordered one of each soup. I had the tomato soup which was good and I shared with the two smaller kids. DH and DS11 said their soup was also good. There were bread plates on the table but we were never served any bread - seemed strange. Also, if you wanted one of the appetizers we were told that it would be one between two adults on the DDP, not one each.
Then we waited and and waited and about 30 minutes later out came the main course. I don't know why they were so slow as they weren't busy.
DS4 had the fries and chicken. He wouldn't eat the chicken said it didn't taste good, tried giving it to DS7 but he would eat it either. DS7 had the fish and french fries. The fries were really good but he only got one piece of fried fish, DS4 had got 2 chicken strips.
I had the steak with mashed potatoes an little onion rings. Nothing special, I gave the potatoes to DS11 and the onion rings to DS7 and I ate about half the steak. DH had the beef stew, again nothing special and the meat was really dry and the he had a tiny serving of green beans. DS11 had the chicken pot pie thing that came with a little salad on the side. He said the pie was okay but I noticed he left a lot of it, he didn't like the salad and he's usually a big salad eater. Very disappointing main course. Again I consider myself a reasonably good cook and I could have done much better.
DS4 and DS7 had ice-cream for dessert. At least you can't go wrong with that. I had the creme brulee which didn't resemble anything like you would expect creme brulee to look like. I looked like a slice of pie and wasn't the best. DH had the trio of mousse which was very rich, too rich really as you could only eat a bite of each. DS11 order the Chocolate Kiss which was really good and we all tried some.
Our waiter, Chez, was missing in action a lot and was incredibly slow to refill drinks. Lunch took way too long and DH was ticked off by the whole experience. We would not go back.
