We'll be in DS one evening and at first I thought Homecomin' all the way since we're from NY and don't get good southern food often. However I keep reading good things about Raglan Road so now I'm conflicted. We'll have my DD 7 and DS 4. My mom will be with us as well and she's from NC so no shortage of good southern food for her. Which would you recommend?

I love Raglan Road as well but I have to be honest I am from the Appalachian Mountains and from my view point Homecoming is very average. You say you are from New York, If you are not spoiled by southern cooking then you will probably enjoy Homecomings a lot. I also say this because coming from New York you can probably get the same or better menu items than Raglan has.

Huge Raglan fan for many years and it still checks every box, entertainment, ambiance, ample menu choice w/ interesting appetizers, very good food, good drinks and the final box, my fave, desserts, Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding. Homecomin, I enjoyed it but: I don’t care for the greens, there’s a sweetness to them that I’m not used to and don’t care for, excellent fried chicken, a hint of sweetness on the deviled eggs too, argh! The Hummingbird Cake however makes up for it all. I’ve made it myself but it’s so much better when someone else makes it and cleans up too! Good luck with your decision!

We’re from Manhattan and were underwhelmed with Homecoming. We joked we should have tried Chicken Guy which opened the evening we were there. It’s probably better chicken!

FYI, Art Smith opened a chicken restaurant in Grand Central Station. It serves the same chicken and sides.

I did not know about the restaurant there. About the only thing I know about New York food is one of my former corporals sends me care packages of bagels, cream cheese and lox from there. He insists that there is no good kosher food west of the Mississippi.

Thank you for all the input! We are definitely gonna go with Raglan Road. I’m really excited to try this place!

We went to RR evert year from stumbling on a soft opening years ago. Our last meal was horrible. We didn’t like our food, service was horrible and the band was the worst we had ever seen. We have not been back - sadly. Too many good places now in DS Next Trip we are going to Homecomin’

I did both. I've been to Raglan Road three times now over the years and we've always enjoyed it. This last trip, in July, it was much more crowded than it's ever been but there was a lot more entertainment to see. The previous two times I was there, I never saw any entertainment going on (must have been my timing). This time, the dancers were out in the center, then they brought their portable dance floor into our room off to the side and danced about 6 feet away from me. We then had the trio of singers/fiddlers come in and I really enjoyed them.

I also went to Homecomin' a few nights later and really enjoyed that meal too which was a totally different experience.
