Raglan Road - concerned about noise?

I've been reading on Deb's AllEars.net Raglan Road reviews. More people seem to like the food than not; we were able to get ADRs for 9pm. a bit late for me, but all i could get at the last minute. I can get past eating later, but from what I read, it seems it gets very loud in there with music and dancing.. I didnt even think about that when i booked it. I dont know if my Mom is going to want all that noise while we are eating? Most Disney restaurants are a bit noisy with kids and characters, i dont mind that.. but these people were really complianing about the noise factor at RR.

should i cancel and try to book something else? I wouldnt be so concerned, but the time (9pm) is about the time when all the "entertainment" starts.

Im probably over reacying for nothing. They said we Wolfgang Puck was accepting walk-ups. hmmm? what should I do?

Howdy neighbor...

Here's a Raglan Road tip I just found out yesterday. Go to Raglan Road's own website (google it). Once there, you can make your own reservation via thier system which is different than Disney's ADR system.

I fooled with it (didn't make an actual reservation) and found all sorts of earlier times if that is an issue.

I've never been but I *think* the entertainment starts at 7.

There are some side rooms off of the main room. Maybe you should ask for one of them they're probably quieter. On the other hand maybe your Mom will surprise you, maybe she'll like to get abit rowdy in the pub. :thumbsup2

You are awesome! Thanks for that tip! I had a reservation on a day in August at an early time and wanted one hour later but disney dining told me they had NOTHING else available for the night. Just about any time I typed in was available on the website. Thanks so much!

Julie

Yeah, it's not just noisy it's LOUD and the entire restaurant is like that, even the back rooms. It's truly on purpose and not the place to dine if you are interested in much conversation. We go for the show =)

Glad you got a reservation for earlier; I believe the entertainment still goes on at 8pm and is a lot of fun (my ILs loved it!) but it just depends on what you're looking for.

Yes, thank you! But, I will talk to my Mom first. I'll give her the heads up about the Pub entertainemnt. Maybe she wont mind.. Knowing my mom she wont care, but cant say i didnt warn her! If it seems to be a problem Ill try to made a reservation through the website..or I'll just go with it.. we may love it!!

hey thanks guys!!!

xoxo

Did you call Raglan Road directly? If not I would do that.
Also, you can just show up and wait, probably a short time for a table.

Here is the entertainment schedule from the RR site...

When:
Lunch Served 11:00am to 3:00pm.
Dinner Served 3:00pm to 11:00pm.
Bar Menu Served all day.
Live Entertainment starts at 9:00pm to 2:00am, with our Irish band and Irish dancer, who perform 6 nights a week. Live music with Paul Duffy 8:00pm-2:00am on Sundays.

Also, here is the link to book a table through them...

Enjoy!!!

This may or may not be helpful for your situation. Anyway, I suffer from migraines, and sometimes they are noise induced. I always carry foam earplugs. Some brands are even sold in small containers that fit in any pocket or purse. If you opt for this route, do not keep them loose in a pocket purse, they get nasty and you wouldn't want them in your ears. Carry them in the provided case, a smaill ziplock, or old film canister.

It found it to be very loud so much more so than your regular Disney restaurant.

This may be a silly question, but can you still use the dining plan if you book your reservation through the Raglan Road website instead of through Disney? I never knew about the website and they have the exact time and day I wanted that Disney kept telling me wasn't available.

yes, you can still use Dining Plan. Just tell your server when you sit down. It would be just like walking up and using it.

I was just able to book a 7pm dinner. I was only able to get 9pm through Disney. I'm going to print the res out ahead of time to bring with me, so there is no misunderstanding. I have to cancel the 9pm. I spoke to my Mom and she doesnt seem to care about the noise level. I still rather eat at 7 instead of 9 at night. Now if I could only do this for OHANA! lol

Also, my brother and cousin are planning on going to ESPN for Monday night football. I hope they dont decide to skip our dinner at RR. Philadelphia is playing against Dallas so I know he will want to be there for sure. He does this every fall when we go to Disney.

Anyway, thanks for all your help, I was able to get a better time going directly through the RR site.

:goodvibes

If anyone is interested in Wolfgang Puck as well, call directly! For weeks Disney has had 'no availability" for when I wanted to go. I called directly last night after this thread and got exactly what I wanted!

Has anyone called directly, or booked using OT.com, and been on the DDP? Were there any issues or complications using the DDP if you did not book through Disney's ADR #?

yes, and there is no problem... just let server know. It would be like walking in to a restaurant with no ADR and using DDP.

We have done it before and are doing it again this Monday!

Thanks, futureWDI - that's exactly what I needed to know!

I have 2 ADRS at RR for Sept. One through Disney at about 7:30 and another on another day at 5:45 (thru opentable.com).

Last year when we ate there (8:15 ADR) they started to seat us right in front of the band. I could have reached up and touched the band members! As it was myself, my DM68, and DD8 and we weren't there for the music, we asked to be seated further away. We went back to the podium for a few minutes and they re-sat us. This was in one of the other rooms (library, I believe) and it was quieter. Definitely not quiet but we could talk over it.

Oh, and as far as walking up without ADR, that night (Saturday) they were quoting 1 to 1 1/2 hour waits and we waited, with our ADR , about 20 min. (longest wait that trip).

When you go you have to have Ger's Bread 'n Butter Pudding-it's too die for, especially the sauces! :cloud9: For my entree I'll be having It's not Bleedin' Chowder-so yummy!

The Pudding (normally served in 1 larger cup, they were out that night and I got 2 smaller ones!)

(Not) Chowder!
