Hey all,

I just got back from staying at the Worldgate while at WDW and I just wanted to relay what a horrible experience it was. Now I'm sure that there are others that have had a wonderful time there but I just wanted to share my experience.

There were 2 sets of couples in my group. We each had separate rooms and hoping to get 2 joining rooms. I needed internet access for my class that I have been taking and that was the only request made. The only area that had wireless internet access was in the south tower. Of course, we were assigned rooms in the north tower. The staff at the front desk (who were all very nice), informed me that there were no available rooms in the south tower upon check-in but they would let me know when one became available. That was fine with me. We all had dinner plans at Boma's that night so we went upstairs to drop our bags off in our rooms and there was a housekeeper and another gentleman in my friend's room. There was a large water spot on the rug in front of the bathroom. Looked as if the tub or toilet overflowed into the hall. Not nice. So they let them know that they were going to get them another room. Meanwhile, I go into my room which was had 2 doubles and it was so small! The door in the bathroom hit the toilet when you opened it and the vanity was not big enough for 2 people. Well, we knew that we weren't staying there long so we went to dinner.

After dinner we all go back to our rooms and the keycards to my room don't work. We proceed to the front desk and it turns out, they checked us out of our room and checked in someone else without notifying us first! So we had to wait for security to escort us to the room to remove our bags and go to the new room in the south tower. We waited 10 minutes and security never came so one of the front desk girls (again very nice) walked us to our room, we removed our bags and she walked us to our next room and guess what? The keycards didn't work there either! So we waited there while she went down and got them activated again. FINALLY, she came back and we got in. Much bigger room, much bigger bathroom but wait, there were ants! We didn't feel like switching again so we just stayed there.

Other problems throughout the week, the ice machine across the hall was dumping ice through all hours of the night and woke us up. Then the ONLY day we are there in the afternoon after going to Typhoon Lagoon, there is NO WATER!! :earseek: None to shower. We had to sit in our freezing room in wet clothes. Last problem, there was no a/c unit in the room, just a thermostat and that didn't work!! :rotfl2: I laugh about it now but thankfully we were only there to sleep but I would not stay there again even though it was convienently close to both WDW and MCO. :moped:

Anyone else had problems there?

Btw, we found out too that most of the south tower was still under renovations from Hurricane Charley's wrath last year.

I was there for 2 nights last Dec. on a Priceline rate. Although it isn't a great hotel, I found it wasn't bad either. I had to laugh (sorry) when I heard about the no water - that happened to me on my check-in day. Got to my room and found no water. Called the front desk and was told they were working on the problem - a pipe burst the night before. I went out and by the time I returned around 6 pm, we had water.

Would stay again if the price was right - VERY convenient to AK!! :teeth:

Thanks for your response. I was beginning to think that no one else has ever stayed there! Don't worry about laughing about us having no water, I look back and laugh now too but believe me, it was not funny when it happened. :rotfl:

We have gotten this place twice on Priceline and both times we were not thrilled with it..its not horrible but I hesitate to bid on a 3* because of it

Sorry to bump this, but has anyone stayed there recently? It's going for 56 dollars on Hotwire (at least I'm pretty sure from the research that this is the hotel. :) ) We need a cheaper than AKL trip this march break. It's down on Hotwire as a customer favourite...I cross-checked it with Tripadvisor and some people there really like it too. Has it been renovated lately? Has anyone got any comments about the pool there?

Thanks! :)

Beth :hippie:

I've stayed there many times and have found it to be fairly nice actually. Never had the problems of the original poster and the rooms I've had have been fairly large. It has changed owners three times since we began staying there and I think Radisson has spruced it up the best.
The rooms all have a small fridge and ironing boards and safes which is nice. The internet room has three or four computers you can use for free. Bring your own paper though if you want to print something. Several times they've been out.
It's very convenient parking wise in relation to the rooms and the road next to it gets you to Animal Kingdom pretty fast. About a mile away. I've found the rooms to be quiet and it's far enough off 192 so you don't hear the road noise at all.
It's definitely worth around $120 or less, but I wouldn't pay more.
When I see rooms going for $79, I jump on it.

HI!

Thanks for the info. I just booked it last night through hotwire for $57, so it sounds like I got a pretty good deal!

It looks nice on the web site and I'm going in with a positive attitude...one advantage is that it's close to BOMA, my fav restaurant. We're planning to not do WDW in general this march, as we've got the big AKL trip booked for August. This is supposed to be a cheapie last minute just to get the pregnant, cranky mother into the sun and out of the cold for a week! ;)

I'm still working on letting our ds4 know that we won't be going to WDW. Right now i'm using the lure of Seaworld. For 61 bucks each, we can get a pass that's good all year! I can't believe how cheap that is compared to disney. ds is a big science/animals buff so I think he'll like it there and we'll go at least once or twice. I'm actually looking forward to doing the "other orlando" trip...checking out the restaurants on the strip, etc. We've only ever done on-site WDW trips in the past.

Thanks a lot for all the advice. I love the DIS! If anyone knows anymore about Rad. Worldgate, I'd love to hear it. (Rooms to request, etc.)

Pixie Dust to everyone!! pixiedust:

Is this the Raddison Resort Parkway now called the Raddison Resort Celebration? If not, exactly where is this resort because I can picture it at all...

I'm pretty sure that this is a different place. We stayed at the RRP-Celebration last fall and it was wonderful. But I remember, before we went, reading a lot of bad reviews for the other Radison, but I was always scared that they were talking about the Celebration one. It's very confusing.

This one is on 192 and I believe pretty close to where Westgate is..it has changed owners/names about 3 times in the past few years and is definitely not the Parkway one. Its a big hotel and looks nice from the outside but the inside is just subpar in our opinion unless its changed in a year or so

Hi. I am planning a stay here very soon. I just wanted to ask if anyone has any info about the pool and the 40 foot slide they advertise....
I am getting the room for $85 (2 nights) and $65 (1 night)

Any and all input would be great!

Thank you!! :cool1:
