Radisson Resort Parkway or Best Western DTD?

I'm considering either the Radisson Resort Parkway or Best Western DTD for a 4 night stay in Dec. Both have about the same price--BW is $69 per night and Radisson is $74 per night. Last trip we stayed at Holiday Inn DTD for $35 per night (Hotwire rate). Overall I felt I got my money's worth at the Holiday Inn. It didn't have any "magic" however, it was convenient and cheap. We did have a problem with mold in the ac but they cleaned it and then moved us to another room when the odor persisted. However, such problems should never occur in the first place. But I feel I know what to expect with the BW since it is also in DTD and an older hotel, built about the same time. The Radisson looks nice, too, and they have a Kids Eat Free program which should save us something (although not as much as one might think, since you're not at the hotel for most meals).

Both of these hotels have negative reviews on Trip Advisor. However, it seems most places have negative reviews on Trip Advisor. If you rely on them, you'll never go anywhere! I guess people are more prone to write about negative rather than positive experiences. However, I'm starting to wonder if some of those posts are actually "plants" from the competition? Some are incredible. I read about one hotel (not the BW or Radisson) that had "poop" on the bedspread. Other complaints about various hotels include blood on shower curtains, hair and crumbs in the sheets, mildew in the sleeper sofas, blood on the sheets....I mean, come on! If I incurred such a situation, I'd demand that the manager come to the room to see it then give me another room free. I'd also report it to the board of health, which regulates hotels. I certainly wouldn't just put up with it, then gripe to Trip Advisor. If the hotel didn't give me another room I'd check into another hotel and dispute the charge on my credit card. I find it a little hard to believe some of the Trip Advisor posts and take them with a grain of salt. (No, I don't think Trip Advisor is making these posts up. I think they just post what others write. However, it could be the competition, you don't really know the source of the posts). So, I guess what I'm asking, is if anyone has had a positive/negative experience with either of these hotels would you share your experiences so it could help me with a decision? Oh, BTW, I intend to rent a car for the trip regardless of which hotel I stay at. It gives you so much more flexibility. Thanks!

I'm not going to give an opinion here on the two hotels you mentioned, since my reviews of both are available on my web site. :teeth:

I just wanted to say that I couldn't agree with you more about TripAdvisor. Absolutely anyone can post a review there, and I have found it to be pretty unreliable. People are much more likely to make the effort to post if they are unhappy.

Like you, I have a suspicion that competitors may be posting some of the more outrageous reviews. I've read quite a few where I thought "wow, did we stay in the same hotel?"

About all I can say in TripAdvisor's favor is, if a hotel has a lot of reviews and few or none are negative, that place must be a little slice of heaven!:D

We went down a day early last May and stayed one night at the BW DTD before checking into CBR. I was favorably impressed with the hotel and probably would stay there again. We had a room higher up in the tower with a balcony and could watch the fireworks that night, a nice warm up for the rest of our vacation. We used their transportation to make a trip to DTD that evening to go shopping and it was fine. My only complaint was the shower which would alternately go cold and then scalding in a flash - wouldn't let my child take a shower for fear she would get hurt. I didn't complain, however, since we were only staying the one night and checking out early the next morning.

Ok, that's the third complaint I've read about the unpredictible shower at the Best Western, so three strikes and they're out. I'll now plan to stay at the Radisson. We're staying four nights and don't want to be afraid of the shower!

That's interesting you've heard that complaint before. I figured it was a fluke and not a regular type of thing. I hate to hear that and I don't guess I'll be going back there either!

We stayed at the Radisson Resort in December for one night before we moved onto Disney. It is a very large resort with well kept grounds. Very impressive pool area with waterfall, slide and jacuzzi.
Our room was brightly decorated, and very clean. Easy check in and check out, and very close to Disney...we drove there in a matter of minutes. They also provide transportation to the parks, but I can't vouch for this because we were only there overnight.::MinnieMo

I stayed at the radisson and I wasnt happy at all, I felt the hallways to be extremely humid and had a mildew smell to them, the pool was dirty and the service wasnt so hot.

Now I went last year and everyone knows how much it rained last year so that could have been the problem, but I wont stay there again, Ill spend the extra couple of bucks and go to allstar.

We stayed at the Radisson last May, and had a very pleasant stay. We had room 403, which was a pool view room with 2 beds. The room was recently remodeled and clean. The hallways are a little worn, but that wasn't a real bother for us. We stayed for $79 per night with breakfast. You get a lot there for your $$. The pools and slide are great for the kids, I feel comparable to a higher end resort level pool area.
