I'm considering either the Radisson Resort Parkway or Best Western DTD for a 4 night stay in Dec. Both have about the same price--BW is $69 per night and Radisson is $74 per night. Last trip we stayed at Holiday Inn DTD for $35 per night (Hotwire rate). Overall I felt I got my money's worth at the Holiday Inn. It didn't have any "magic" however, it was convenient and cheap. We did have a problem with mold in the ac but they cleaned it and then moved us to another room when the odor persisted. However, such problems should never occur in the first place. But I feel I know what to expect with the BW since it is also in DTD and an older hotel, built about the same time. The Radisson looks nice, too, and they have a Kids Eat Free program which should save us something (although not as much as one might think, since you're not at the hotel for most meals).
Both of these hotels have negative reviews on Trip Advisor. However, it seems most places have negative reviews on Trip Advisor. If you rely on them, you'll never go anywhere! I guess people are more prone to write about negative rather than positive experiences. However, I'm starting to wonder if some of those posts are actually "plants" from the competition? Some are incredible. I read about one hotel (not the BW or Radisson) that had "poop" on the bedspread. Other complaints about various hotels include blood on shower curtains, hair and crumbs in the sheets, mildew in the sleeper sofas, blood on the sheets....I mean, come on! If I incurred such a situation, I'd demand that the manager come to the room to see it then give me another room free. I'd also report it to the board of health, which regulates hotels. I certainly wouldn't just put up with it, then gripe to Trip Advisor. If the hotel didn't give me another room I'd check into another hotel and dispute the charge on my credit card. I find it a little hard to believe some of the Trip Advisor posts and take them with a grain of salt. (No, I don't think Trip Advisor is making these posts up. I think they just post what others write. However, it could be the competition, you don't really know the source of the posts). So, I guess what I'm asking, is if anyone has had a positive/negative experience with either of these hotels would you share your experiences so it could help me with a decision? Oh, BTW, I intend to rent a car for the trip regardless of which hotel I stay at. It gives you so much more flexibility. Thanks!
