I'll be staying at the Radisson on Friday night before the cruise. I've been reading a bit and am wondering if I'm getting myself in a tizzy over nothing. What do you experienced cruisers know/think about the following:

1. I hear the Radisson shuttle is madness getting on. I have a reservation for 10:30, will that be crazy? I'm bringing a five-year-old and 11-month-old and I don't want them to be hustled and bumped in a mad rush. Is that what is going to happen?

2. How do you find out where and when the Radisson shuttle will pick you up? I've read at least two places where people say it was two hours late. Is that really what I can expect? With little kids, I just don't think I can wait that long.

3. And where does the shuttle leave you -- at the parking lot anywhere near your car?

3. How safe is the parking lot in which we would leave the car?

4. Does anyone eat dinner at the Radisson? We are arriving with friends who will not have a car with them. Is the food there good, or can you recommend something family friendly that is walking distance away (considering we will have small children with us).

Thanks so much!

I don't have answers but am interested in the ones you get. we will be staying there the 13 and 14 - told we could reserve shuttle to the Wonder when we get there....was that a mistake?

When I made my reservation I was also told that I could reserve the shuttle when I arrived. However, after reading these boards, I changed my mind and booked in advance. I'm glad I did!

I just called and found out that the 10 a.m. AND 10:30 a.m. shuttles are both full already.

Also, I asked about the possible delays in pickups. The woman at the Radisson said that that does sometime happen, but that when it does it is usually on Sundays, since there are three ships in port and it is madness. She said on Saturdays there are only two ships and it isn't as bad. Of course, that is just what I've been told, so I don't know for sure myself.

Heading out on the Magic this coming Sat., Aug. 7

The Radisson now has bigger shuttles than they did before. I remember 18 months ago it was a nightmare trying to board the shuttles in the morning but I hear that now they have 2 or more large shuttles that hold quite a bit more people. I do not think you should have a problem. I would get out there early and claim your place in line.

DCL has two parking lots....one is attached to the terminal and the other is across the ring road of the terminal (not far). The shuttle will drop you off near the white tent in the outer DCL parking lot. You can drop your luggage off with DCL luggage handlers there and then walk over to the terminal with your carryons.

The shuttle will pick you up at this same location. I believe people were talking about the Budget shuttle being very late, not the Radisson, but I could be wrong.

The shuttle drops you off at the lobby of the hotel when you get back to the Radisson...you would then have to bring your luggage to your own car.

I have not heard of anyone having any trouble with leaving their car in the Radisson lot.

We have eaten dinner in the Radisson and it was fine...they were very accomodating and about the same price for any decent restaurant.

Another option is if you drop all your luggage at the DCL terminal first and then come back and just take the family on the shuttle. Or you can drop the family and luggage at the terminal and then you just take the shuttle from the Radisson and meet the rest of your family at the terminal. We have found that to be the most efficient, but we have older teens.

There are a few inexpensive nice restaurants within walking distance (less than a block either way) from the Radisson.

Our friends left their van parked in the Radisson's parking lot last year and they felt that it was very safe there. No problems when they got back either.

There is a really good pizza place right next door to The Radisson. The food there is great! I'm pretty sure there is another restaurant within walking distance too. We only ate breakfast at the hotel.

thanks - this is very reassuring. we're going out on the sunday 8/15 Wonder and back on Thursday so hopefully quieter on the return run.
