Hi all!
Well, I can't keep myself from thinking about our upcoming
cruise ~ so in spite of DH's eye rolls, here goes!
We'll be a family of 7 (five adults, two little ones, and one grandma needing some help). We are arriving the day before, but that's where the planning has stopped. My questions for you all:

Should we rent to minivan (one way quote from airport was $89 plus the hassle of drop off the morning of the cruise) Yet, in this case I think I could priceline a decent hotel price for Friday. Also the stress of keeping our group together through rental process at airport - I might as well be herding cats!:hyper:

I also like the limo idea (avoiding that rental stress) but it looks to be about double the price (around $200) of a rental car and I also feel obligated to stay at the Radisson, who I know has a dependable shuttle to the port (also more expensive than priceline since right now their going rates are about $119)

Additionally, we were going to stay over the day we get back from the cruise - has anyone had any experiences getting to a hotel (like the Radisson again, or other using limo or back to the rental agency) just for another overnight stay??

So many questions (I have to full my Disney dreams!), thanks

We flew down the day before and stayed at the Radisson. We had booked Tiffany Towncar's stretch limo to pick us up at the airport and drive us to the Radisson. After the cruise, the limo was to pick us up from the port and drive us to the Polynesian resort at Disney World where we would spend a couple of days relaxing and reacclimating to the "real world". LOL Then the limo was to pick us up from the Polynesian and take us back to the airport. Here is the price breakdown that we had (keep in mind that we booked this a year ago, the prices may have changed a bit since then):

Orlando Airport to Radisson at Port Canaveral: $125.

Port Canaveral to the Polynesian resort: $150.

Polynesian resort to Orlando Airport: $110.

Plus 20% gratuity for a total of $462.

Unfortunately we never made it to the Polynesian resort because of Hurricane Frances and our cruise being extended an additional 3 nights, but those are the rates. When we travel we plan for and budget for limo service since for us this is the most relaxing way to go.

I know that a lot of people do return to the Radisson for an additonal night after the cruise.

I hope you all have a great time, whatever you decide :)

We are just back from the 9/11 MAgic. We rented a mini van from Budget (because of luggage not passengers!) rate $69. plus taxes etc.
We stayed at the Radisson the night before - total $108 with tax.
We dropped the mini van off at Budget on Saturday about 9:30 AM. We were the only ones on the Budget shuttle and got to the terminal about 10:15. it was too early for the terminal to be open so we were dropped off at the white tent in the parking lot. our luggage was picked up there and we walked across the street to the terminal. No hassle whatsoever! :smooth:

So it sounds like you haven't had any hassles with the rental car drop-off and return?
How did it go after the cruise- did you call Budget to pick you up, or did they have a shuttle waiting?

I just CAN'T wait-I know this is all self-imposed stress. I prefer to call it "excitement." Either way, I'm Sooo thankful that all my stress is over Disney; I can't stop thinking about the folks with flooding and hurricanes.

:confused3

pardon my confusion/stupidity .... is the Radisson the hotel at airport? Another possibly dumb q: Tiffany Towncar phone #?

Thanks!

Hyatt is the hotel at Orlando airport. Radisson at the Port is the closest hotel to the ships....we have stayed in both...Hyatt is more luxurious and Radisson is more tropical.

We are staying at the Radisson this Friday night for our cruise on Sat. When I booked there were plenty of rooms and I just checked and they are now sold out for that night...probably due to so many other hotels in the area still being closed from hurricane damage.
