We have a reservation for a whirlpool suite the night before our cruise. Now that we are getting close, I'm second guessing this decision! We are taking a red-eye from Seattle getting us in 7:30 am the day before our cruise. I'm wondering now if I should have booked somewhere closer to the beach etc. as we'll have the whole day to kill. Is the Raddison one of those "nice to lounge around" kind of place to stay? The pool is pretty important. Can those of you who have stayed at the Raddison give your views? Convenience was a big factor as we are renting from Avis....
Thanks
Jenn

I also had this dilemma!! We are arriving the morning before our cruise and I originally thought I wanted to stay by the beach for the day. We are sailing 2/23/02 and I checked out all the prices for hotels on the beach in Cocoa Beach. You can find some pretty good deals through Hotwire or Expedia.

I did have the Best WEstern booked and then last week switched to the Radisson for convenience sake. We are also renting from Avis. Alot of people think Radisson is alot of money for a hotel that is not on the beach. From what I gather from the board this hotel has a very nice pool area. Given the fact that in Feb I do not if the water at beach will be warm enough to swim in, we opted for the Radisson. I have my car all day so if we want to go the beach we will!

If being able to walk to the beach from your hotel is important, you may want to consider one of the other hotels in the area. I don't think I would try crossing A1A on foot.

As for the pool area at the Raddisson, I thought it was great. We also has a jacuzzi suite. Our room was very clean and well laid out. I would not hesitate staying there again.

We stayed at the Radisson with a jacuzzi suite before our cruise in Aug/00. The pool was beautiful and the kids had a great time in it the day we arrrived and the morning or our cruise. The jacuzzi was GREAT! We really enjoyed staying there and loved how close it was to the port. We also had a glimpse of the Magic from the hotel. It was pretty exciting. I would definately NOT hesitate to stay there again!

We stayed there last year with 2 other families(10 people) and REALLY enjoyed it.:bounce: We checked in around 1:30pm and our rooms were ready.:) Change into our swimsuits, grab our cooler and headed to the pool:cool: for the rest of the afternoon. It was GREAT...:bounce: Next door is a nice place to eat(forgot its name :()SORRY. Pizza and reg. dinners. We are staying there again this year with 2 other families and can`t wait.:D Reminds me of a Disney Resort.:bounce: Have a GREAT time.:D :) :D

My family (DW, DD-12, DS-7) and I were fortunate enough to cruise on the 7 day Magic last May (2001). We opted to stay at the Raddison after the cruise and then went to the Kennedy Space Center on Sunday before returning home.

The Raddison was very nice and we thought well worth the price. We also had a jacuzzi suite and thought it was one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in. The pool and hot tub area is large with plenty of lounge chairs, it wasn't crowded at all. The pool is also flanked by an outside bar. The hotel also has a restaurant which looked nice, however we didn't try it. We opted for a italian restaurant just next door for dinner, we enjoyed it.

The AVIS car rental is in a building that is connected to, or just adjacent to, the Raddison, you can't bet that for convenience.

My DW and I are returning to the Raddison (jacuzzi suite) this June, arriving on Friday AM and staying over. Our departure is June 22 on the Magic -Western.

I hope I was of some help. I am sure if you needed to find something to do during the day, and have access to a car, that it wouldn't be hard to find something to interest you.

Enjoy!

Just one more opinion for you...we stayed last week. Second time and we loved it! The beach is only 5 mins away, if that and yes the water was COLD! But you can still go and walk the beach and enjoy. There are many public access areas to park near the beach. If I wasnt cruising I would still pick the Radisson...it's a wonderful resort!

Another thumbs up for the Raddison.

We stayed in a Whirlpool suite the night before our Dec.1 cruise.
The hotel was quite and clean. The suite was large and the whirlpool was a great way to relax.

We checked out the pool on our way to breakfast and it looked great.

Have a great trip.

I guess I'll stick with the Raddison after hearing all these great reports. We will have a car and silly me didn't really think about the water temp at the beach. I think the kids would prefer heated pool swimming anyway. I did check out some rates on the beach that weren't much less than the Rad. I paid $119 for a one bedroom whirlpool suite AAA. That sounded like a pretty decent rate to me. I was on the fence about the suite but I felt if we're flying all night.... some of us might be tired. Some of us might not! So, this will give us more space if we need to sleep. I'm assuming there is somewhat of a separate sleeping area?
Thanks again to all who replied.

The suite we had was - when you entered the room there was a living room area with pull out Queen size bed, TV and full kitchenette. There were doors that opened to the 2 King size beds jaccuzzi and a separate bathroom/shower. It was really spacious. You will love it!

The Radisson has a beautiful pool... one of the most beautiful on the Space Coast. But the hotel is rather overpriced for the area and definitely overpriced for a hotel that's not within walking distance of the beach. I love the ocean. I love the beach. If I had a rental car, I'd definitely go with one of the hotels on the beach, and you can probably save some money.

I have a summary of your hotel options at my site:

Hi:wave:

For those of you that have stayed in a Whirlpool suite with two King Beds. What kind of privacy do you have? Is it a two bedroom suite or just two king beds beds with a common area? The reservation says two-room suite but the web site also says two bedroom suites is there a difference? The site also mentions walk-in showers which would indicate to me there are two showers in each suite. Is this the case? Wish they had a room layout pic like DCL:)

We also loved the Raddison, except for 1 thing. I wish I had brought BUG REPELENT! We were eaten alive by mosquitos by the poll! Not a Raddison problem...more of a Florida problem. Even in late Sept. it was a awful! Not much fun, hanging out by the pool, having a cold drink...and slapping away the bugs!I have heard the same comment by many other folks.

$69 discount coupons are available for the Radisson. Just look for the toursit hotel/motel magazines.

This rate expires on 4/23 and is not good for the jacuzzi suites and is based on room availibility.

Joe and Joanne,
Stayed in the two king bed suite this month, and it is just two king beds in the same room. The queen sleeper sofa is in a different room seperated by closing doors.

Our suite had one walk-in shower (very nice). There was also one jacuzzi tub, which is in the same room as the king beds, with no privacy door.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Dave from Marietta. We stayed at the Radisson this past trip, but for the next cruise, I have booked an ocean view suite at Comfort Inns, just across a small street from the ocean.

I like water and water views. The Radisson room was nice, but dark. Just a small window in each room, looking out to a parking lot. There was nothing in the area to do - had to drive to anything. We like to go out and walk around the area of a hotel.

The room set up was not the best for us. The whirlpool took up a lot of space, and not much space for clothes etc. Two king beds took up the rest of the space. The sink area was small with little counter space.

The pool looked good but too cold to swim.

Hi:wave:

DizMare
Thank you for the help guess I will have to change to a two bedroom suite:p

Now, this is something I'd never thought about. Should this be a problem in Feb? The kids will be spending most of the time in the pool.
Also, thanks again for all the input and replies.
