So we had an assembly today about Rachel Scott who was the first to be shot in the columbine shooting.
Ah it was so sad, my friends and I cried some.
It was so freaky too, because she predicted her own death, before she died she wrote in her diary that she was going to die by homicide.

So, has anybody seen this assembly?

We should all take the challenge and

Look for the best in people
write down our goals

and Start a Chain Reaction
:)

That's my thing everyday. I've never seen this assembly but it sounds inspiring. Almost every day I wake up with a , lets make this a good day goal. Alot of times I don't meet that goal, but the past two days I have. I don't know how to explain it but i'm so happy.

I always try to look for the best in people, there are some people I just cant do that with, but there's so many I can and it turns out I really love people.

Yesterday I was very bored so I made a " Ten amazing things about _____" And I filled one out for all of my friends. I'm giving them to them tonight so yeah.

We had that program at our school on Thursday. The thing that really gets me angry about it is how Rachel is potrayed as the greatest person ever where as the other victims can't even be named. I'm not degrading Rachel, by any means, and what her family has put together is great but where does the Columbine museum get off only displaying her? It just gets me really mad. But overall I really enjoyed the program being that I love the Columbine (yeah, there's no way to say that without sounding weird and creepy, but I hope you all know what I'm trying to say here) and find it facinating. Two hours well spent if you ask me. Two expensive as h(eck) hours, but a good program no less.

Sounds truly insipiring.

But it's awful the other victims don't get recognized.

I think it is too. She's one of the only one's who is recognized for dying for her faith. I'm sure there are many others.

BTW, there's a special on National Geographic on April 3rd about Columbine. Isn't that the anniversary? I remember watching about it on tv in school. I think I may have been in 5th grade when it happened.

I've seen that yea it was pretty scary how she knew she was going to die... i got to go but this is a good thread i think my school really appreciated the assembly and i think it was good to show everyone what could happen if u make fun of ppl

No Cassie was too. You know..the book 'She Said Yes' ...

OMG I JUST NOW GOT THAT. SHE SAID YES. OMG...

nvm..okay...

Yes, we had this assembly and my school accually had Rachel's Dad come to the school and speak to us. We have a banner that everyone in our school signed that said "We Accepted Rachel's Challenge" and we had it hung at the front door, so it's the first thing you see when you walk in. It was so sad to see Rachel's dad talk and watch every thing that happend that day over again.

It's so weird how everything happened, she predicted everything! And one guy had a dream of the picture that Rachel drew in her diary the day she died.

She made every body important in her eyes and even stopped someone from committing suicide.

Rest In Peace, Rachel Scott, Your a TRUE hero.

If you haven't seen this assembly, talk to your principal, it is SUCH an importent consept!

No, April 20th is the anniversary, It is Hitler's Birthday.

yeah, because the boys who shot here thought Hitler was a hero
and Rachel thought Anne Frank was a hero

I do think all other 13 people that were killed should be recognized more too, but Rachel supposedly stuck up for a lot of people, and wanted to start a chain reaction of kindness, so schools pay to let these people do this assembly

The people who are remembered are those who have parents with money to do so.

At my school a good girl, captain of color guard, an artist, a writer was killed by a drunk driver.

At my school, a boy accidentally killed himself preforming audio-asphyxiation-************.

Guess who got the full spread in the year book?
Guess who got a blood drive named after him?
Guess who's dad is the principal.

Katie isn't getting anything named after her. Katie didn't get a blood drive. Katie's picture was on the bottom of the page of the yearbook.

Spencer, however, did.

Just an example of why I hate things like that. Rachel wasn't a hero. Rachel just got shot. People get shot every day. I think Rachel would've liked to just rest in peace instead of having her memory desecrated like it has been. The assembly shouldn't be about Rachel. It should be about EVERY one who got hurt with Columbine. It should be about the friends, the families, the victims, the community that those boys hurt.

not just Rachel.

do you think the publicity also has to do with how they died?

no one really wants to talk about ************ anyway, so isn't just avoiding it helping?

IMHO.

Ok, so the thing about that...If I were her father and some man I didn't know called from the other part of the country saying that he had a dream about my daughter, I would (insertion of oh-so-friendly term) take him out. He would not be a free man and, to be perfectly honest, neither would I.

ETA: Ah, and to add on the Rachel vs. Anne Frank thing, to compare the two it asinine. To even mention the two in the same sentence is ludicrous. What the two of them went through isn't in any way similar.
