Has anyone attended a taping of the Rachel Ray show? A friend has waited 2 years and finally got tickets, but it says:

Admission to our show is on a first come, first serve basis as ticket as distribution may be in excess of our studio capacity. Ticket reservations are not guaranteed and all shows are subject to change.
Wednesdays and Thursdays
Show times: 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Arrival time for the morning show: 10:15 a.m.
Arrival time for the afternoon show: 2:15 p.m.

Since it is a 5 hour trip, she wants to be sure to get in. Does anyone have any idea of when people start to line up? I'd appreciate any suggestions or tips. Thanks!

Rachel Ray is not what shes cracked up to be.................I was there for a show in Sept and they emailed me first to b in line by 10am, then 2 days b4 I got an email saying not to be in line til 11:15............got there at 11am and was told they gave out all the tickets for the first taping but if we wanted to hang around til 2 we could get into the 2nd taping, so we did.......only they didnt let us in til 3:30 and didnt tape the show til 4pm and all we walked outa there with was a vinyl bag with her magazine and some samples of her new dog food.
Found out that the people line up like 4 hours b4 you need to be in line and YES they always overbook. The show tapes in segments, not in order of how you see it on the show, and Rachel is not the nicest to her audience. She didnt acknowlege us once! OMG and the snack of the day was a turkey sandwich, unwrapped, and everyone touched it while they passed them out on our way out of the show.............makes you realize just why you never see the audience eat the snack of the day, NEVER AGAIN, I was so disapointed!!!!!

I was at two of her tapings - the first season. That being said, it sounds like things have sure changed since I went. The first show at the time taped earlier and I think we had to be there by 9 or so. We got there and got in no problem. I thought Rachel was wonderful to our audience both times I was there and thought she was warm and very friendly. I can see that maybe doing all these shows along w/everything else she has on her plate, has maybe taken their toll on her but I really enjoyed being in the audience. The meal she made one of the days I was there I actually got to eat! She handed it right to me - we were in the first row. It's true that the show is taped in segments, so instead of being an hour (for say a live show) it's more like maybe 2 hours taping time. She doesn't give out freebies alot (not like the Tony Danza show used to) so I wouldn't expect anything. A 5 hour trip is very long just to see this show being taped. Is there anything else you can plan to do while you're in the city?

It's taped in NYC. Don't remember the exact location though.

I have been invited to the RR show 3 times !!! I still have yet to see her. The first time was during the 1st season , they sent an e-mail to me and ask me all of this infofor myself and 3 other guests, name, age , address, etc.. Then you had to e-mail them back with all of these specific instructions, so I followed all of the directions and they sent me a confirmation so everything set for a particular date. Well guess what a week before, they e-mail me and cancel due to "taping conflicts". Okay stuff happens . Then a few months later they ask if I would be interested again, followed the same instructions , they give me the date tell me to be there at a certain time and all was set. There were 4 of us going so we had arranged to take the day off from work, find sitters for the kids , get train tkts to the city , etc..It was going to be a girls day out. Guess what ? I get an e-mail the afternoon before saying they had to cancel. No, we are sorry, or can you come another day , just that they had to cancel . I was so furious ! I emailed them and told them that I think I had a better shot at seeing Elvis then I did to see Rachel Ray. Just this past winter they invited me to come to a taping again. This time not in the studio but at a skating rink in a park in the city, this is where she was taping her show for this episode. They specifically said it was standing only and that once you arrived you could not leave. Who would do that ?? I do remember that day was freezing cold and misty...glad I didnt go

Hi! I was there in the spring. I don't even watch her but my friend got tickets. Please plan on not getting in the first show. We stood in line and watched people after us get in because they had been turned away before and were back for the 2nd time(they give you VIP tickets and guarantee that you get in the next time you come) we didn't know that so I was wearing not good to walk in shoes! Good thing my friend wears the same size and she can walk all day in heels! So we go back about 1 1/2 months later and get into the show. They cram you all into a tiny room with snacks and hardly any chairs. After awhile they put you in your seats. I was on the center aisle so the camera guy kept walking by me real close. It was hard to see her because of the way the stage is set up. Regis was the guest, at least he was nice, she didn't speak to anyone at all. Our snack was some horrid chocolate cookies. But we did get an Athlete's foot gift card worth $100. Now I just have to drive and hour and 15mins to go to one! I had more fun walking around New York on the day we didn't get into the show! :goodvibes

i've been to live tapings of other shows and honestly they are not fun. you have to get there aobut 2-3 hours early. you're tired, hungry and gifts are not always given (nor do i think they should be expected). DH works in tv and always geeks out at these things but it's never worth it for me to go. now if it were oprah...maybe

We went to a taping...its about a 6 hour drive for us from Maine. We got there at 8 in the morning for the first taping of the day (there were 4 of us). There were about people in line in front of us, and the only let in the nine of us. They cut it off right after me. ALL the other seats had been "reserved" by a moms group. So there really is no way to guarantee. The other 60 people in line behind us were po'd. But, it was a great taping.. they did all the "star" tapings...we saw Hillary Swank, Steve Carrell, and Julianna Moore. It was fun, but I wouldn't do it again...

I have been to the show, this past season. My first time, I got there about 2hrs before taping and was asked to come back another time with the VIP passes. They also offered a limo to see another show being taped (I turned that down, as I work in NYC and just went back to work). I have to say, with the VIP, it was great...I was able to pick my own date, and then was given priority seating, priority check in. I thought it was great, and have been to MANY other shows for tapings...David Letterman, Conan O'Brian, Jay Leno, Martha Stewart, many sitcoms. We did get some gifts, although I agree, better to be pleasantly surprised, but you need to expect nothing. I was also invited to that outdoor skating show, but turned that down. You do have to have a lot of time to participate in a taping though...we were there probably 4-5 hours to see the taping, from start to finish.

I have also been to a taping of the RR show back in February. Although we had VIP passes we got there about 2 hrs early. They told us we didn't have to wait in line and before they started letting people in to show the person our tickets. We were the first few people inside, we had to wait a little to go through security then they take to a room with snacks and coffee( no other show ever did this that I have been too which I thought was nice). They finally seat us. The did tape several segments that aired on 3 shows. We got to see Elio from Dancing with teh Stars, Enrique Iglesius, and Samuel L Jackson and Laura Spencer. We got Cd from Enrique and Rachel gave us a $450 Fugi fitness bike. we were surprised but not expecting anything much. She was nice to the audience. I hate when people complain that stars were not nice at the shows, its these peoples everday jobs to be on TV, not to entertain and be best friends with the audience. They are working, following all kids of instructions to get thier job done right and the audience is there to observe and be part of the show when needed.

My Mom has done this a few times, but not for Rachel. She's gotten in to the View twice, Regis & Kelley, and Tony. Get there early, even earlier then it says so you can get in (the closer to the front, the better your chances). Her and her friends take the train or bus in from Jersey, so they take a bag of "stuff" to do with them and to carry any goodies they get home. As for any goodies, it all depends on what the show is about. I think it was the Tony show, but they taped 2 episodes on Thursday, becasue he wasn't 'live' on Friday. The first group all got tv's, but for her taping they had some Victoria Secret model on and the audience all got size 32B bras (they were told they could take them to any VS tell them were it came from and could exchange it for the correct size). Grant it free is free, but the bra went to my sister as VS doesn't carry "bigger sizes", I think Mom would of rather had the tv. :rotfl:

I had to more thought after I originally posted...

1. My parents went to a taping once and made a day of it. After the show they went to Rockafeller Center to see the tree and I think they tried to do the NBC Studio tour, but it was full. They ate lunch somewhere (I can't remember the name), but a few of the actors from AMC were there (one of my Mom's all time fav shows, they didn't bother them or anthing, but they now refer to that as the time they "ate with the stars lunch"~lol), and did a little window shopping. and I think they caught a broadway show (bought the discount day of tickets).

2. You may already know this, but just in case...the tapings can last longer then the time the show is on. After one of the tapings the audience was asked to stay a while so they could film promo and commercial spots. Ended up being another 2 or 3 hours.
