Racetrack Noise at Poly

In the UG, it said that the racetrack noise at Polt was one of its negatives.

Can you really hear it? Only from the closest buildings? What hours?
We have requested Samoa.

Any input appreciated.

We were there for a week, mid-August '03 and never heard a thing. We stayed in Tokelau but did wait for the bus at the bus stop many times and also walked over to TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot and never heard the racetrack. There is one bldg., can't remember the name, that does face the entry road and toward the race track that you could possible hear the noise from. But, I think it might only be on the upper floors.

I think the only time when racetrack noise was an issue was when the Indy Racing League raced there which they haven't in a few years. The Richard Petty Driving Experience is there but the engines on those cars are not as loud as the IRL cars and not multiple ones on the track which gets noisy!

Have stayed at the Polynesian 4 times. Heard it this past Dec for the first time. We noticed the noise but did not find it overly distracting. I certainly wouldn't let it deter me from staying there. Infact, I'd check back in tomorrow, even with some big event going on at the track. The Polynesian is my favorite place to be!

We stayed at the Poly in the Tahiti bldg. in July and NEVER heard it!! The only sound we heard was the relaxing Hawaiian music!!

Only thing we ever heard, ironically, was loud people at the quiet pool.

Not a peep from the raceway.

Six trips to the Polynesian that translate into almost fifty days and we have never heard anything from the race track.

no you can't hear it from the Poly. We never heard a thing. We never even knew it was there.

This sound was driving me crazy because I could not figure out what it was. I heard it every morning and finally asked someone towards the end of our stay. A CM said it was the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

Have stayed at the Poly many many times and have never heard anything. I am a devoted UG fan and have always wondered what the heck they were talking about. I know the track is right there but have never heard a thing from it and I've stayed GV Aotearoa, which is probably the closest longhouse to it. Heck, I'm a huge racefan and wouldn't even mind, so I would definitely notice the melodious sounds of a racecar!

I've been to the Poly 6 times and never heard it. I had the Raratonga building 3 times which is the closest longhouse to the racetrack I believe. 36 days at the Raratonga and never heard any racetrack noise. Just another reason I don't like the UG. Gives out incorrect info.

We heard it once while staying in Tahiti a few years ago. The race was not going on and it did not sound like Richard Petty driving experience. I was guessing they were doing some testing of some sort. It was noticiable but not very..smjj

We stayed at the Polynesian on our first trip in 1997 and I felt the same as you, Johnnyr. It's just kind of there in the background. We stayed in the Moorea, which is now the Tahiti.

I agree Deb & Bill. It's a faint sound, but definately there. It wouldn't stop me from staying there again and does not take away from the resort in any way.
