Just got info from Disney spokesperson that the Race Retreat, ChEAR Squad & Pasta in the Park will go on sale TOMORROW!

Better hurry! Or not ;)

Any guess on how much it will cost :confused3

That's one expense that I'll not be spending money on. You have to crawl out to do the race anyway dso ya might as well be out there getting used to it.

Last January was as bad as it gets, with record cold, rain and wind. I survived and finished the race. It was an ordeal and as the time passed it turned to an adventure.

Please to explain to the newbie? :confused3: What are these things?

Thanks!! :goodvibes:

Race retreat is a special tent area for pre/post race that is only available to those who buy the package. I think you get some breakfast stuff as well.

Chear Squad is a similar area for people to cheer on the race.

Pasta in the Park is a pasta dinner in one of the WDW parks the night before the race so you can carb up. It comes with a park ticket for that particular park too.

Oh, ok. Thanks!

Let's see, $100 for the Race Retreat, $55 for the pasta in the park. That's my guess. I did the race retreat the first year when it was a mere $50. It didn't include breakfast. I guess the breakfast makes it $50 more.

IF we go this year, we'll be staying at the Polynesian. That will be my race retreat! ;)

Edit to add, I didn't see that the Pasta dinner comes with a park ticket. I'll bump that price up to $80.

So where do you buy them? I couldn't find anything about them on the runDisney or Marathon site.

That's right, we survived last year so we can make it through anything! Did it for 3 days in a row too.

Duane

I am with Duane! 2 of 5 Goofy's have been cold but survived. Hard to pay so much extra. It would make the Goofy almost $500(including active fees). I can get a Annual Pass renewal for less than $400. 2 days racing or a whole year in the parks:confused3

Disney is pricing itself out of line in a recession. Just check reg numbers vs last 2 years!

It was funny that the race retreat was not sold out until the last week pre-race, then you might have been able to auction off your pass for $hundreds....

But from what I have read, the tent did not provide all that much shelter anyway. A little wind block but it seems like everything I have read was that the tent was still cold.

Old school for me - we don't need no stinkin tents.

I was in the race retreat tent for the 2010 marathon. It’s true that there was no “heat” in there that morning. However, I wasn’t frozen or anything like those of you waiting outside. They had TV’s set up showing you guys outside freezing your booty off. I think you were the “entertainment” while we waited. ;)

They had hot chocolate, water, fruit and bagels. Also, port-a-potties and characters for pictures.

WAIT...there aren't porta potties unless you PAY for them???? :confused3:

No, you don't have to pay for porta potties. January certainly was an experience I will never forget and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I had some much fun running with my friends.

Oh, ok. Thanks!

I'll be running with one of my sister's friends (they're both CMs) - she said something about me running and he said "Oh that would be fun! I'll run it with her!" Hee!

You were the entertainment for us outside. You were cold and paid $100. We took that money after the race and had a great party. Much better than watching what was just outside the tent :thumbsup2

Hey - I didn't say it was cold in there - it just wasn't toasty. :teeth:

In all seriousness, I don't regret forking over that 100.00 for the tent. I freely admit to being a wimp in that type of weather. (I'm from Texas after all - we deal more with heat vs cold.) And I'll probably pay for the tent again this year - just incase Jan 2011 has more crazy weather.

Kuddos to all of you that stood in the cold for a couple of hours before the race began. I left the tent at 5:15 that morning to walk to the corrals. I was in Corral B and was in the first wave to start at 5:40. In just that 30 minutes (with a chunk of it walking out to the corrals) my feet froze so bad that I honestly couldn't feel them for the first two miles of the race. It felt as if I was running on air.

Also do not get me wrong.... While I have never stayed in the tent I did look early the morning the 7 day forecast came out. Tent open. Decided to think about it on the way to work. tent sold out.

I am old school, but also getting old. I did have the advantage of taking a last minute monorail in so I was not all that cold, either.

Next time you are in cold weather, duct tape the mesh over the forefoot while you are out waiting for a start. Just remember to rip the tape before the gun fires. It helps tremendously!.

Did anyone else do the pasta in the park. I origianlly thought cheesy and costly experience until I realized that the meal tix were admission into the park for the 3 hour period in addition to the meal. In all honesty the meal was good and the entertainment not too bad. Skipped the special viewing area fireworks for a warm bed.

Does anyone know if Pasta in the Park is offered during the Princess Half also?
