Sorry for the late posting on this, but we just got back from Maui and I wanted to report on the Valley to the Sea half marathon. It was a pretty cool race, but I don't know if I will ever do a small race again. I went from over 22k finishers at Disney to 166 in Maui. I placed 62 overall (10th in my age group) with a 1:57:02 time, which is a PR for me. I was real happy with that time considering I thought I was going to pass out anytime between mile 8 and the finish. The water stations were every two miles, which I wish I would have know about so that I could have brought my own. The gatorade wasn't watered down, which I found makes a big difference. What I thought would be really cool when I signed up for the race was finishing the race on the beach. Yeah right...after running 12 miles, running on the beach for 3/4 of a mile was not as cool as it originally sounded. Next is the Pittsburgh half and then the Goofy in January!
