Everyone have a great event and a grand Memorial Day Weekend!!

I ran the Soldier Field 10 Mile race today and had a good time. The race went well, and while I am pleased that I finished, I was hoping for a better time. But I came face to face with the reality that if you don't do any run training for a month, you are going to see it in your performance. And I did. Lesson learned.

I wore my W.I.S.H. Shirt (had to represent!) and got a lot of good feedback from runners on the course. The race goodies were cool -- a medal in the shape of a football helmet and a nice stadium blanket! The blanket got more comments from my family than the medal did.

My full race report and some photos are up on my blog site.

I hope everyone else's races and training runs today were productive and injury-free!

I hope it wasn't as hot in Chicago as it was here this weekend, Rick!

My race ended up being super small, there were only 25 finishers for the 1/2. There were about 250 others running the 5k or 10k. It was a nice course on trails through a local park, but it was a record setting temperature day and the race didn't start until 9. Needless to say I took it extra slow to be careful and used it as a training run. I have a mini recap and some pictures from the race on my blog along with a couple other races I've run the last 2 weekends.

I ran the Buffalo half marathon this Sunday. I was going for a PR but before mile 3 I knew that it just wasn't going to be a fast race. It wasn't the course or my preparation or anything but it was just one of those days where I just didn't have any kick. It felt like I was missing my top gear. I ended up with a 1:27:02 which is my second fastest half but considering I ran 1:25:38 on a much hotter day and way harder course I was hoping for more.

As for the event itself, I thought it was very underwhelming. It wasn't bad by any means but it didn't seem like a main event. I had the feeling that it was more like the city's second race instead of their flagship marathon. The expo could have been held in my living room and the finish area was about as long as my driveway. The course wasn't bad but there were long stretches where it was pretty much deserted.

It wasn't bad but if someone was looking for an out of town race I would tell them to find something a little more fun than Buffalo.

I ran the Magnuson Race Series 15K on Satuday 5/26.
This was part of my training run for the Seattle Rock and Roll.
It was a beautiful sunny day.

I must be crazy because I signed up for a 1/2 this weekend.
The Rainier to Ruston 1/2.
I guess that will be another training run for the Seattle R&R! :rotfl:

Hi folks I ran the Edinburgh Marathon on 27th May 4hrs 17 mins it was so hot ha ha .

May see some of you at the Disney marathon in Jan not registered yet, but may do next month just debating in my head if Im up for the training again
